Threads around here wander off topic? LOL
Nice job on the build.

I have learned to follow traffic. Somebody passes me let them get 100 yards/meters ahead and follow them. Have watched my rabbits get several tickets.markbxr400 said:I'd probably have 2 tickets a week without a detector. These bikes only know two speeds - off and on . . .

Same here. Strategy is that if you are not near anyone else, they can't hit you. I find a hole and stay in it. When it closes up, I look for another one and move to it.BigBob said:I have learned to follow traffic. Somebody passes me let them get 100 yards/meters ahead and follow them. Hi Dave, that's a nice simple design. Sorry all the miscreants here are crapping on your thread and using it as their own personal radar detector soapbox.lddave said:I like to ride with a radar detector on or in all my vehicles. Looking at the Tenere for locations to mount the detector and looking at what materials I had laying around the shop I decided on the cross bar on the windshield brackets .
I hope you post your results I would be interested in seeing the outcome .Stef said:Hi Dave, that's a nice simple design. Sorry all the miscreants here are crapping on your thread and using it as their own personal radar detector soapbox.
One of my winter projects is to come up with a way to mount my V1 in the space between the accessory bar and the top of the instrument cluster.
Using a radar detector effectively is a learned skill, and it isn't all that easy. Because radar frequencies are used for other things besides police radar, using a detector to good effect is a nuanced activity that takes time and experience to master. I realize that this sounds ridiculous but it's true. A detector is just one tool in your arsenal, which includes understanding how radar range is effected by terrain, how to leverage other traffic to your advantage, constant vigilance/situational awareness, local tendencies of enforcement, etc.Thrasherg said:I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but do you find the detectors really work? i bought an expensive Escort unit (i forget the model) but it is always going off for no reason, I can get it to learn these false alerts, but there are so many false alerts that when a real alert occurs i ignore it assuming its another false alert. I have driven through multiple lazer speed traps and the detector has never once given an alert and stated LAZER (as it's supposed to). For me it has been the biggest waste of $400 I have ever had. Just wondering if I am alone or doing something wrong?
