Ok, so I've read the history and it looks like the Parabellum is "the" quiet windscreen. On my bike wearing a Nolan N90 I'm getting a good bit of windnoise (not buffeting, noise). I can stand on the pegs and it's nice and quiet, but sit down and the wind noise is, at best, aggravating. So is the Para the answer or ??

Thanks

I have a Para. There is no such thing as a quiet windscreen. There are quieter windscreens depending on height, angle of the dangle, shape etc. Hope you wear ear plugs at least. Found better ear plugs and helmets work better than better windscreens. ::010::

Get a Madstad bracket and you should be able to make almost any windscreen work. It is far and away the best solution for a bunch of different riders.

I had a CalSci and it was a good shield but I was looking for something quieter because I like to listen to audio books on my cross country rides. So I tried the tall Parabellum and found it much better. I can hear and understand the books now. ::008::

I've had good results with Madstad bracket and Calsci shorty tinted windscreen.

My friend just bought a new 2013 and cut the stock shield WAY down and then cut a NACA duct into the remaining shield and he says it's a vast improvement for him.

Everyone's head height, helmet shape, posture and seating postion is unique so it all depends...

I've never rode with a N90, however I do have a Paralbellum.

I do have a Nolan 102 flip up helmet, and an Arai Quantam. For me, the Nolan is significantly more noisy in every scenario.

Recently I was doing some back to back testing of the Parabellum and the Givi Airflow. I did the testing without earplugs. I've got the Touratech adjustable bracket, and in addition to comparing the screens, I was optimizing the position both. Once I got them dialed in and decided the Parabellum was the keeper for me, I tried both helmets back to back. I really like a flip up, the Nolan is the only one that I can find that fits though. However, it has a lot more noise that the Arai. What I did notice was that if I left the face shield up on the Nolan it was significantly better. If you wear sunglasses you might consider trying it with the shield up.

I'm a big fan of earplugs, after getting a set molded at a bike show, I road them for a couple of years and lost one. My ENT had suggested that I consider Westone Sleep Plugs for maximum comfort and good protection too. I had him take impressions and order me a set. The best $150 I've spent on gear, ever. Super comfortable, and nice and quiet. I can't emphasize enough how comfortable they are. Had 'em in for eighteen hours straight last week, didn't even know they were in.

I really like the parabellum. I went back by stock since I'm not riding much. You pay for shipping and your welcome to try mine. If you like it, throw me an offer. If not, ship it back.

I had the tall 26 inch parabellum, it was excellent, but the other day it broke when I crashed at 10 mph in wet grass. The tenere was fine but the parabellum cracked I assume from the side being hit.
I am now trying a MRA from tourtech. It looks nice but is shorter but I have the adjustable extension on top which will bring it very close in height but it wont be as wide as the Par. It wont stop raining so my test have been limited. I do like the smokey gray color.

Again the Par was excellent.

A goldwing should have a nice quiet air pocket, it would also be smoother no "twin" vibs.
Got one, thank you and it dies have a nice quiet pocket of still air, however it is much heavier and not as much fun to ride :). Love the ST just would like it to be a touch quieter ::022::

You say the parabellum cracked. Are they made of acryllic/perspex? Very dissapointing as the polycarbonate/lexan screens don't seem to crack.

Keep in mind its an adventure bike, its a little rough on the edges and no single thing about it is perfect. If you take it as a whole its a damn good product. That being said you can expect:
Windnoise
Vibrations
Handle bars not close enough
etc. etc.
...

I suppose ytou can also expect it to get dirty and full of bugs mine is...

As part of the free $1200 accessories deal I got the Yamaha tall shield.
It's TERRIBLE! The upper 1/2 curves back toward the rider and forces the wind directly into my faceshield.
Stock was better!
Ive got a touratech windshield bracket ordered that should make things perfect...
