When I briefly went back to using the stock muffler on my bike I made a packing ring from 1 inch wide aluminium strip. From memory it was 1/16" thick and I rolled a ring of it to fill the gap. It worked fine but the stock muffler was too quiet, so I refitted the Arrow muffler.

Oops I misunderstood you on the other forum. I'm pretty sure you will have to replace it. The heat cycles over the years make those things really brittle. And don't forget to use lots of Never Seize inside and out of the gasket.

Hmm. Mine must be stuck in the OE can. Never even knew it had one. If you need a slip on I know where there is a Leo Titanium available.

That is a crush gasket common on exhaust systems. My two brothers exhaust was not wide enough so I went with no gasket. Took a bit of sealant to get a good seal but wish the crush gasket could have been used.
