How thick are they and how hard are they to install?

I installed my own and did not find it particularly hard. The fussy part is how the wire is laid into the throttle housing. The instructions that came with the kit were detailed enough. I think it is a very well put together kit and worth the money. pretty much plug and play, you do need to drill a new index hole in the bars for the throttle housing pin. I don't know how thick they are but I do know they work well and are very warm. The control works well and sets the warmth where you want it. ::26::ValpoFz said:How thick are they and how hard are they to install?

Well if the same guy installs the cheaper grips, he'll probably botch those too. Ever wonder why you're the only guy on the forum with this problem?spasm said:they are way too expensive and DONT heat up evenly, one side is way hotter than the other, i personally wish i hadnt bothered and bought some cheaper ones that do the same job ::007::
There's nothing to botch because the kit comes with new grips and heaters fully integrated and pre-wired to slide on.Tremor38 said:Well if the same guy installs the cheaper grips, he'll probably botch those too. Ever wonder why you're the only guy on the forum with this problem?
exactly i must have the only pair that are shit and dont work properly, one side is definately hotter than the other im not dreaming it up mateCurt said:There's nothing to botch because the kit comes with new grips and heaters fully integrated and pre-wired to slide on.
Mine heat evenly, but since one tends to grip the throttle side harder it may feel like that side is warmer. A throttle rocker may help there.
I'm worried the wire in the throttle housing will eventually break. I had to lubricated it thoroughly to get it to slide like it's supposed to.
I'm guessing the throttle side is hotter? You might consider pulling the clutch side off, getting some large shrink tubing from an electrical supply house and installing a piece over the bar, heating it to shrink, then re-installing the heated grip. The shrink tubing will offer a bit of insulation and help prevent the bar from sucking heat away so fast, making the grips feel more equal in heat out put.spasm said:exactly i must have the only pair that are shit and dont work properly, one side is definately hotter than the other im not dreaming it up mate
Mine were installed by the dealer and there is no question that on my bike the throttle side is warmer and by quite a bit. This is probably my sixth bike with various heated grips and this is the first to heat unevenly.spasm said:exactly i must have the only pair that are shit and dont work properly, one side is definately hotter than the other im not dreaming it up mate
I sorta echo this. The throttle side is slightly warmer, mostly noticeable in first few minutes. After this, I can detect the throttle is warmer, but I have to call my attention to it. It is a non-issue for me.bmac said:Mine were installed by the dealer and there is no question that on my bike the throttle side is warmer and by quite a bit. I actually like that the throttle side it is a little warmer but the difference is a little more than I would like.
