I am thinking seriously about getting a Super Tenere, and cornering clearance is a question I have had, as I have been riding performance bikes like a Ducati Streetfighter 848 and Triumph Speed triple and Aprilia Tuono R. Thanks for the great info based on your experiences with the Tenere. ::26::

All fun bikes. Two questions, why do you want a Super Tenere? And do/did you drag hard parts on the above bikes?

If you want the ST to ride off pavement, cornering clearance is moot. You're not going to be pushing that hard. If, you drag hard parts on all those bikes and plan on riding the ST in a similar fashion, that's going to lead to another discussion. Starting with, why, again, did you want a Super Tenere?

Maybe if you're a really big guy and don't get your suspension set up properly, but I've drug both pegs on the ground repeatedly and I've never touched the skidplate to the street.... Dirt, on the other hand.

I was just going to say that the Rumbux with it's super stout system has been the only one I've read of as touching down in corners. But that was on a 600 pound adventure bike being treated as something else. ::26:: I believe even the rider agreed that it was rider error... but we all get in the 'groove' every once in a while; performance awards, sparks, worn side walls... and every once in a while, hard parts do touch down. Just remember, this is an Adventure Bike that is fun on pavement, not a Sport Bike that can ride in dirt. ::008::

Happy to admit I never drug a foot peg on any of those bikes -- knees yes, toes of boots, yes, pegs, no. I actually just bought a white Tenere '13 today! I bought it to have a comfortable ride for me, for the occasional adventure, and for romantic rides with my wife, and an occasional jaunt off road, like I used to when I was a teenager! I've got a Triumph Daytona 675 for thrilling speeds without tickets on racetracks. With a Tenere maybe I can ride like a real grownup now. ::015:: And again, thanks for the help and insight!

Well then it sounds like you know a thing or two about body position and shifting around. Those still apply to the Super Ten, just like other bikes. ;) Just remember that any accessory you bolt on will change the dynamics to some degree, and use some caution until you figure out if it affects your riding style. Congrats on the new bike. AltRider makes some good kit. There are lots of choices out there for various protection levels, choose what fits your needs. ::008::
