I fitted my new Puig crash bars last night and it took bout an hour. I ordered from Revzilla and they arrived from the US 5 days after ordering which is pretty quick.

The packaging by Puig was poor and the crossmember had come out of the box. I told Revzilla and they have given me a $15 credit. Very nice. The bars were a bit over AUD$210 delivered.

Quality is very good with excellent welds and powder coating. Simple to fit although the instructions were not accurate and one hole needed adjustment by 1mm. The bars seem to have good coverage of vital areas and fit well with the OEM aluminium skid plate. Both side panels can be removed easily with the bars in place. The photos tell the rest of the story but I'm very happy so far.

I like the look. Does the cross brace, that runs from side to side in front of the motor, appear to be strong enough to resist bending from a lateral stress ? It looks like a piece of flat stock which might bend easier than a piece of tubing ?

It is flat stock but has a few bends in it and is about 1/4" or 6mm thick. I think it would take considerable force to bend.

I have the same engine guards, and seem tough and protect the water pump better than others, putting additional lighting requires some extra work, as the tubing angles do not come prepared for it. specially the left side.

I bought them for the price and have no regrets yet, as I have not needed them, and hopefully will not ever need them..but I think they will hold up, they seem well built and look like the hepco and becker ones I had on a previous GS..

Those look nice. My only reservation would be that they don't seem to offer much protection to the radiator?

Thanks for the photos!
The super tenere radiator and radiator fan are susceptible to damage by other crash guards that go up as high as the radiator.
In a fall, the taller crash guards may bend inward and mash the radiator fan into the radiator.
I think the Puig are better because they will keep the bike off the ground high enough to protect the radiator in a fall.
Plus the Puig is lighter and will carry it's weight lower on the bike.
I may get the Puig myself, especially since I try to avoid anything more difficult that smooth gravel roads on my Super Tenere.
Cheers!

I installed mine yesterday and my only complaint is the minimal clearance between the crossbar and the oil filter. I may remove the bar and file a recess in it so I can use a cap style filter wrench without removing the bar.

The m6*20 mm that hold the crosbar ? I have mine yet in garage ( not Mounted ) , BUT instead the bolt A couple mm to short ?
The nut dont " fitt all the way " ? They should be 22-23 mm ?

My fix .... Yet only CRC Galva Brite , later Body spray ( like your bedriver paint / " " stone chip "

When i paint so small area i only spray in one of theese .. A small piece ... And then just " tabb" the area with paint ::008::

I just installed a set of the Puig Crashbars myself (Going to paint mine), but noticed there is not much room to install an aftermarket skid plate. Does anyone know if the Givi RP2119 Skid Plate will work with the front mounting bar on these? Looks like everyone has the stock Yamaha Skid plate.

I appreciate it.

Thanks

I just picked up the GIVI RP2119 , and the puig crashbars will not work with this skid plate. So now my Puig bars are for sale , shame I really liked the design. Anyone can PM me if they are interested.
