Why are you thinking of getting them? Reason I ask is because I get a pain between my shoulder blades after a long ride and have been reading that it might be the taper of the bars. Are these more tapered then the stock bars where they might fix/help my problem? If so I may try them or dibs on yours if you don't like em? :)

Yes, I'm getting them to give me better riding position. I did go ahead and order them, had some 'zillacash burning a virtual hole in my pocket so I'll be the test mule. The pullback/sweep is causing pain for me in my elbows and knots in my biceps right above my elbows after riding for more than an hour. I do get sore in the middle of my back, but not as sore as my arms. These still have more sweep than most bars.

I'm right at 5'11, 32 inseam and short arms. I've already put on Rox Risers which made it better. I also put rox risers on my KLR and that made the riding position PERFECT. I can ride that sucker for hours with no fatigue, but those bars also have no where near as much pullback.

I'll post back up this weekend when I install them. Should have 'em in my grubby hands by Friday.

Interested to hear the results. The stock bars are hell on my right wrist, and are perhaps contributing to my tennis elbow issue as well.

I think what makes my elbow issues worse is existing/prior injuries. I have a messed up shoulder, I've needed a tommy-john surgery since high school when I pitched out my arm, and I'm pretty sure I'm working on a solid case of carpal tunnel.

Received the bars today. Installed them. Really just a slight difference in the bend but a huge difference in posture. I need to tap the bar ends for the weight still, but I'll do that tomorrow. My one hind sight... the box states that the HIGH bars are for Yamaha's. The low bars are for KTM/Huskys. Which doesn't make a huge difference because I already had rox risers. But I could've just gotten the high bars and sold my rox risers to recoup some of the cost as they wouldn't be necessary.

I switched over to the high bars, but weather has been kinda crappy. High bars seem like they're in the same place as the Rox risers + low bars. I like them better because when I moved them forward they put my arms into a similar position as my KLR. I'll report more with pictures when I can get a couple of clear riding days.

Funny how this stuff matters as we get older, didn't seem to matter when one was throwing sod in the air at 15.
The stock bars started destroying my wrist I switched to motocross bars Ricky Carmichael (The Goat) bend not as wide but a more front sweep, problem solved. ;)
I still like to take the old bars and lock them on a bench vise and bend them forward like one of our members did as I like how wide they are.

I hope the new bars work for you. I'm the same height and inseam with short arms and had almost identical pain. I also have nerve impingement issues in my right shoulder. Tried 3 different bar styles with no luck. In the end I went back to the OEM bars with 2" Rox Risers. I rolled the OEM bars forward until the hand grips were almost parallel to the ground. The Rox Risers are angled back toward me about 45 degrees from vertical. I cut the bar width down by 30 mm and I've never had a problem since. I'm convinced the width of the bar was the biggest problem for me.

So here is my final adjustment that I'm really happy with. I don't have any pain between my shoulder blades anymore after riding yesterday. I also lowered the bike with Jaxon's RideonADV links. You can see the fitment sticker I was talking about on the box as well in the pictures. I was watching Long way Round this morning... and it kinda hit me as hilarious that Ewan and Charlie never rode their BMW's before leaving. Charlie dropped his bike twice, once at the starting line. You can tell they get better at riding as the series go on but .... how the hell did they RTW on those bikes without getting comfortable on them with all that weight first.

How difficult was it removing everything off the old bars and putting it all back on the new ones? Haven't look at mine yet but I think I'm going to replace my bars as well.

It's very straight forward. You need to file off the locating nubs on the factory controls. Also - you'll need extended brake lines. Slightly more complicated, but easy to gravity bleed without having to bleed the ABS pump. can be done in an hour or two.

Those bars look great. I think I'm going to get a pair for my bike. Can you help me out and let me know what tap you used for the bar ends.
Thanks

I posted this in another thread, but relevant here as well: One note... make sure you use cutting oil and make sure the tap is squared on the hole when you start to cut the threads.a

To get back to the OP's original question of how to handle the stock bar ends. A M16x1.5mm tap is required. This requires a 14.7mm hole for optimal 75% thread depth. That roughly translates to 35/64ths. Now, the Evo series PROTaper bars Mic'd out at 14.49mm ID and I was able to tap that with no problems at all. Came out perfect. I also bought a professional tool for the job. Go ahead and order it from MSC - you're not going to find it at any hardware store. M10 is the largest you're going to get, and then M14/M18 come in a kit since they're common sparkplug threadings. M16 is no where to be found. I looked high and low.

I will always go to MSC and this brand in the future. I've used harbor freight and irwin taps, but this is the real deal. After a 25% off and free shipping coupon, I got it for 27 dollars and next day shipping.

Took me about 10 minutes per side to tap the threads.

And the finished product:

These bars put me in the upright riding position with no weight on my palms and no leaning forward. I'm SUPER pleased with how they turned out.

rideonadv.com Jaxon is a good guy to deal with and is active on this forum.
