Is there any power outlet to hook hardwire GPS device or I'll have to wire it directly to battery?

I installed a Powerlet outlet on the LH dash. Now I simply plug in the GPS and unplug to remove. I also use the outlet for my Battery Tender.

I have a battery tender lead hooked up, I just use that as a aux outlet, I've changed my heated gear to the same plug, so whatever bike I ride that day, I can use the same outlet (they all have a tender lead). Just another way.

My last motorcycle was BMW and it had a pair of wires left to power GPS, etc. That way you can turn on and off device with key.
Does Super Tenere has something like that?

Correction: Accessory plug. I always have a usb plug in it so I guess that's the way I see it. :D

I either power mine off of the oem acc. plug or the battery tender plug that's wired directly to the battery, depending on what info I want the GPS to keep up with. When powered off of the oem plug the GPS will be turned off at gas stops or any time the key is turned off. If I'm wanting to log all the trip info, I'll power it directly off the battery so it stays on all the time and gives me the stopped time and all the correct averages.

I power my GPS from the 3-pin Aux power plug. The plug has 3 pins: Ground, Always-on, Switched-on. I have it connected to the 'switched on' positive so that the cradle has no power when the bike is off. However, if you want to have the GPS always powerd even when the engine is not running, you can use the 'always on' positive of the 3-pin connector.

What kind of connector is best to use to attach wires to 3-pin connector?

Yeah, BMW is sloppy that way. ;D It's ok, just install an aux fuse block and do it right. Or, you could tap into the cig port, it's only fused for 3 amps and is intended only for things like phone charging and GPS use. Or you could install a cig port plug on the power line for your GPS... wait, it comes with one of those. ???

I have a Eastern Beaver Aux fuse block, (PC-8), but they offer a cheaper and smaller unit too. Eastern Beaver Yamaha Super Tenere Page

Robe, I got mine from Cycle Terminal. The link is http://www.cycleterminal.com/mt-series-090.html The connector is a Sumitomo MT 09. It is cheap and it cost me twice as much in postage from the US to Malta !
I use the connector because I only put the GPS on the bike when going on long trips (perhaps 4 times a year). So I needed an easy way to dismantle everything when the GPS is not needed.
If you're thinking of leaving the GPS on the bike at all times, you may wish to consider tapping into the Aux plug leads rather than connecting via the plug. Posi Taps are readily available at any electronics store.
