Been riding my S10 for a couple of months now.

When I bought here at 5 months old she had 3700 miles and the only change was the Akro fitted.

She ran like a beaten dog. In T mode is was bloody awful, S mode a bit better but still bad. Pinking popping and not happy at all.

I got to the point after 3 weeks where I was looking to sell her and buy the 1200 Explorer, that bad then.

Took a trip to Dynotech in Hampshire UK, Run by a couple of guys and some young un's learning the trade. I was like stepping back into the Seventies. They were friendly chatting along as they worked, giving good information and depth of knowledge.
I asked about my poor running. He stared at me and said: Take that exhaust off and stop messing with it.
Simple

Got home and pu the OEM back on. Massive difference! Bike ran smooth but dull in Tour, and in Sport, twitchy and fast. The pinking had gone and it was like getting on another bike.

I had a K&N on order from the States and that arrived. I fitted this (with the words "stop messing" in my head) and tried that. Even better response from the engine.

I stood there looking at the Akrapovic and then fitted that. Much better still!.

The following week I booked the S10 into Dynotech for a full session. A power Commander was also fitted.

Got the bike back and after a mid range ride of 80 miles was really pleased on how she runs. No more messing.

The charts show 97bhp and 77 Max Torque. ???

I find this incorrect as Tour mode she runs strong and performed well with no range sag.
In Sport it's shocking. Space shuttle fast.

I'v'e since been informed that the dyno run was done in Tour mode.

Has anyone else gone down my road and if so what results did you get.

I'm tempted to go back for a 'Sport' mode dyno run but think: Why bother when she runs so well and I have a grin all the time.

The Exhaust note is lovely too. Good rumble on tickover with a decent howl when riding.

Charts coming. Don't ask me tech questions as I will simple lie. :p But value your experience.

Thanks for reading

Cats

I would, was the mapping done in T or S mode

I would also put the clutch switch mod in, this will remove the throttle body restrictions in 1st - 3rd that the Power Commander cannot get around and ensure that you tweak the power commander to the one map - i.e. the unrestricted clutch mod map.

T-Mode lobs a lot off power of all gears and S-Mode is restricted in 1st - 3rd so by using the clutch "map" it should really fly in all gears and at any revs.

Thanks Cats. Where did you get the Akra from? I want to do have the same mod as you and just need the Akra . I had a Remus on the GSA and that was awesome. Now I'm curious to try the Akra for a change. Cheers

It came with the bike and was fitted from new. I did enquire to why the previous owner traded it in and was informed: 'Something to do with the running'

No Really? Jeez

I have done this mod. I like it. But kind of feel that I need race track and my 60mph commutes are bit difficult to maintain.

My question is do I need to do the CO adjustments anymore. or does the PCV/AT do that now?
