Will this be ok to run through the 12V cigarette outlet on my 2015 Super Tenere? I read that the circuit is only rated for 3Amps (WTF?)

Thanks!
Won't work with the stock outlet because it's switched. IOW, key on, or you wouldn't be back charging the battery, just making part of the circuit live from the outlet to the fuseblock. And yes, 3 amps. It would be better to have a circuit for charging with a 10 or 15 amp fuse, imho.

I installed a Powerlet power port to charge the battery with a Optimate maintenance charger when needed/desired. I've added SAE plugs with inline fuses on my wife's GS for battery tender use. If you want to use the Porsche unit, I don't see why it wouldn't work as a charging device, you just need to install another cig plug that is direct to the battery with an inline fuse. Easy to make something up from the auto parts or motorcycle store. Yamaha has one with a weather cap that matches the oem one. I've used that before on another bike. Lots of people mount another port on the opposite side, either in a tab of plastic/metal, on a dash shelf or just in the plastic there to the left of the dash. (I put my power port there, but it's a little smaller than a cig port).

Hope that helps.

Thanks Erik. That's what I thought. I actually have an SAE plug wired direct to the battery with ring terminals for my moto-pump (and heated suit in the future). I guess I can order this adapter (SAE to female 12V plug) to plug into the harness on the bike, and then plug the Porsche unit into that. This should prevent me from needing to buy another battery tender...

I have one of those for charging the phone inside my tank bag. That's a good price on the adapter. My Optimate has a plug to swap ends for clamps, SAE or a dedicated port. I just made up my own adapter, but sometimes that costs more than buying one off the net! :D

NAPA sells SAE plugs with wire and probably a Cig/power port for auto use. Could just buy a female cig port, an inline fuse holder, a 10 amp fuse to fit it, and the SAE plug and make your own adapter, wrap it with some electrical or silicone tape and call it good.

Don't forget to change the plug for your air compressor to a SAE while you're at it so you can fix flats on the road. That oem port won't work for that either. ::007::

Yep...I have the SAE cord on my moto-pump already, I'll just leave this adapter on the battery tester and plug into the SAE port on the bike's harness. Tested it and the compressor works great. Thanks for your responses!
