Searching for Dry Roads
Hey y'all, escapefjrtist reporting in!
Signed up for the forum when STens were offered via PDP. Went through THAT twice with FJRs, almost pulled the trigger on the STen but procrastinated and never purchased one. Fast forward three years (or so), finally picked up the (faster) 2012 Raven addition at my local dealer. Been riding STens on and off ever since they became available so pretty familiar with the platform before I took the plunge. Really wanted a new '13 GS but $$$, reliability worries and maintenance $$$ kept me coming back to the STen.
Lovin the new bike, had it a little over a month and 1500 miles so far. Pretty much have the farkles figured out, but having a hellava time figuring out panniers...leaning towards GlobeScout at the moment. Already performed a few mods...air screw and CO adjustment seemed to have helped with smoothness. AltRider luggage rack, TechSpec tank pads and the seat mod round things out. Later this winter will be upgrading suspension with a Penske and seat via Laam.
I perform all my own maintenance, set up to mount / balance tires - great way to make "friends"!!
Recognize a lot of refugees here -- look forward to meeting some of the PNW STen contingent and checking out the local Tech Day. No worries...I won't be asking what oil to use or how often I should change air in the tires...I am impressed with a 20+ page how-to oil change thread... ???
Keeping the FJR...the garage will never be without one...and yes, the STen did happen!!
