Anyone going to be out there? It is next week, and I am heading out with a team running a Harley XR1200. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I might have to ride at least to KC but most likely the whole way. I will take a bunch of pictures along the way and during the whole event. Leaving Saturday, so if anyone is looking to go for a little ride... ::001::

there are at least 3 Colorado Springs ST owners on here, and a few more in Denver (I live in Denver and work in Springs)

Don't think I can get away this weekend, but would be happy to help if you want with local rides that are fairly close

I will be leaving saturday and riding the Iron Butt out there. Monday we will be at PPIR on Monday for a shakedown, at the mountain Tuesday - Thursday at 3 am- 9am for practice, Friday qualifying, and off Saturday with Fan night and racing on sunday. I will attempt a return Iron Butt. During the week, I should have some time to get around as practice days will have us off the mountain before noon. let me know if anyone is interested in daring the IBA challenge.

have fun, I'm usually just up the road and would offer beer and shelter but am currently on the road -- enjoy the race!

TPak,
Thanks for the offer. I finished around 5:30 today, 1200 miles and 21 hours after I started. I haven't been sleeping well, and that really killed my pace. I took 3 naps, one in a parking lot divider that had a grass section, second was in a McDonalds. Apparently at 5 am this is a funny thing. And the third was on an on ramp shoulder. The last 500 miles the temperature jumped from a livable 88 degrees to 95-99 degrees. I couldn't drink enough water,so some had to be poured on me to keep me cool. not my best run, but if you pull the 3 naps out it would be. My best prior, as in miles/hrs, was 900 in 13 hours. so, 1200 in 18 would have done it. Now I just have to figure out how much I hate myself...1500 in 24?

if you are camping the best bet is to head up 67 out of Woodland Park a little bit to the North ... most of that should still be open after the fires we had earlier this year

We are actually staying at the Mecca motel. This place is the surface of the sun, unquenchable thirst...
