Ok I'll bite...

Me an my daughter...

Me Aerostich Roadcrafter, Nolan N104 helmet, Sidi Adventure Rain boots.

My daughter is wearing a Kinderider Jacket, off-brand helmet.

Can't go wrong with Aerostich. Well made stuff....waterproof if you maintain it as directed.

Love the Nolan, comfortable and quiet for a modular with good field of vision.

The Kinder Rider Jacket is as well made as any adult MC jacket.

That's the problem, I have been riding Harley's for the last 20 years with jeans , t shirt and leather jacket. After reading about different suits and helmets , I am still in the dark about why to wear what and when . Looking for a good quite helmet with bluetooth installed for music , calls and gps . Because I live in Texas , it is hotter than hell and humid , so would like a suit to wear in these temps and must also be able to handle the cold. By starting this thread , it will allow others like myself to hear first hand what people think about their choices with pictures. Thanks to those that have posted so far. That's exactly what I am looking for.

Tons of info here already - use the search feature. Here are just a few that came up when "jacket" was put into the search query. MANY more available!

ATGATT is very common in the ADV bike world unlike the Harley world you left. It is usually the short quick trip that you decided to go without gear that bites you in the end. My primary riding partner has been off the bike for 2+ months for just such a decision. His nice riding boots did little to protect his feet as they sat in his closet while he rode in running shoes. I ride full gear everywhere. It has been in the 90's a bunch lately and very humid so yes it sucks but it is a hell of alot better than the other options IMHO.

I have had lots of luck finding good deals in the fleabay forums at ADVrider but you have to watch regularly (and be a bit lucky!) and be ready to pounce as your size, color, and desired model may come and go within a half day or less.

Not sure if you read my original posts. The Links you supplied show 2 pictures total of riding gear. As mentioned I have used the search engine here and other boards and google , but the info I am looking for is both visual and actual rider experience. Some threads cover one item others more, this way we get to see what riders are actually wearing and what they think about their choices. Thank you for your input and should you decide to include a picture of your riding gear I would appreciate it even more.

I don't have a pictures at the moment with my gear on and next to or on the S10 as I just picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I do have plenty of pics of me and my FJR though!

I live in the DFW area. I have basically two sets of gear.

Summer gear, late Spring, early Fall: Olympia Air Glide 3 Mesh pants (awesome) and a Speed & Strength mesh jacket (inexpensive yet functional).
Winter, late Fall, early Spring: Olympia Motoquest Guide pants and a First Gear Kilimanjaro 3/4 length jacket. Long johns when needed.

Helmet: HJC Symax 3 Modular.
Boots: Joe Rocket water proof. These are over 10 years old and showing wear and tear. I hope to replace these sooner than later.

Aerostich Darien jacket and pants, with optional back armour installed in the jacket. The helmet is an AFX FX41DS. My gloves are sitting on top of the tank bag (Aerostich Ropers.) My footwear, which cannot be seen in this pic, is Alpinestars Scout WP (waterproof) boots. The Aerostich gear (except for the gloves) is waterproof and very comfortable. The boots are totally waterproof, as advertised.

Cheers,

Bruce

EDIT: I should have mentioned that for very hot weather riding, I also have a Teknics mesh jacket and Tourmaster mesh pants that I use when the weather is oppressively humid.

Rev'it Sand jacket. I'm trying to destroy it so I can justify buying the new Sand 2,but it's not that easy.

Rev'it Sand 2 pants.

Rev'it Sand gloves.

TCX Desert GTX boots.

And the Airoh super light Terminator helmet wit Progrip goggles.

Helmet (not shown) is a Shoei RF1000 with Sena SMH-10 headset installed. Will be replaced on Monday by an Arai with headset moved over to new helmet.

Aerostich RoadCrafter 2-piece suit. I wear it year round. If it is hot, I open the jacket and vents more to let in extra air. Better hot than scraped. If it is cold, I layer under it. Waterproof since the gore-tex is built in. This is my second RoadCrafter; I replaced the one piece two years ago because I wanted a two piece. Between the two suits, I have ridden over 100kmiles in them. The one piece is still functional after logging at least 90k of those miles.

Boots are Sidi touring boots. I also have a pair of Aerostich Combat Touring Boots that I wear when riding the rougher stuff.

Gloves are Held racing gloves, elkskin ropers or Olympia gel gloves

Aerostich Darien Light hi viz jacket, Aerostich Darien AD1 pants, BMW Goretex boots. All of this is totally waterproof. Helmet is Shoei RF1200 with Pin Lock insert that comes with it, works great to prevent fogging in wet weather. The new Darien jackets have magnets in the collar and front lapels so that it will stay either up or folded down as you prefer for the conditions and can be opened or closed with one hand while riding. Vents under the arms and at rear for warm weather. I also like that the cuffs open wide if you want to put gloves underneath and then zip close securely with the combination of zipper and Velcro. In hot weather if you leave the cuffs in the wide open position you get good air flow up the sleeves and out the under arm vents. In cold weather I put my Tourmaster Synergy long sleeve heated jacket liner under the Darien and I'm very comfortable. Long ago I decided that I didn't want to have to stop to put in a rain liner or put on a rain jacket, because besides the inconvenience of storing them, by the time you decide to stop, you are already wet and then once you do get them on and ride a bit, the rain stops and you are in a sauna. Easier to just zip or unzip vents as conditions warrant. The Darien pants and jacket have Goretex in the outer fabric, so it doesn't get oaked with water as other jackets I have tried with "waterproof" linings do.

Let's add these up and see how much it cost to look this cool!

Bell Star helmet with Transitions visor (love that it auto-darkens, love this helmet!) The Bell Star is super light, quiet (except when all the vents are wide open) and the shield does not fog. My only fear is that some day, I'll have to replace this helmet. The good news is that before that happens, I can just replace the padding and liner if I want to.
$550 for helmet >> http://amzn.to/1yWYHoR

Transitions auto-darkening shield. Worth every penny as it's really two shields in one.
$120 for shield >> http://amzn.to/130nuL2

Don't forget the Sena SMH10 - Bluetooth headset - Love that this connects to my phone so I can hear music and make calls. It also connects to other riders' headsets. Great for when you're riding in groups.
$147 >> http://amzn.to/1GpUAma

Speed and Strength Hell 'n Back Jacket - Blue -
$250 >> http://amzn.to/130pfrD
The coolest thing is that the sleeves zip off revealing mesh sleeves that still have the pads in place. Good venting so it's really a great three-season jacket that is great for warm weather but also waterproof and warm when it's all zipped up. It comes with a high-tech breathable, waterproof liner that can actually be used with any jacket. This is now my full-time summer riding jacket.
http://amzn.to/1zjFdK1

Fieldsheer Mercury waterproof pants with pads. These are great. Mine are the version 1.0 which came in grey. The Mercury 2 version is even better. They have a zip-out liner that is super warm. Both the liner and pants zip from the cuff to the waste making them easy to put on. They have never leaked even when riding in heavy rain. I would buy these all over again in heartbeat. But... for summer riding I have a pair of KLIM Mojave pants with mesh. The Mercury pants can get pretty warm when temps are 80+.
$150 >> http://amzn.to/1yX0oCR

Belleville 690 USAF Tactical boots - These have a Gortex lining and are 100% waterproof yet breath. They don't get too hot in the summer and when I slip in my heated insoles, keep my feet warm and dry in the winter. Best of all, they are comfortable for all-day hiking. I like to ride and hike in the SW and these are the best. They may not have the shin support of a full MX-boot but then, I don't ride like a full MX-rider anyway.
$167 >> http://amzn.to/1zjI9Gz

That's more than $1300 but discounts can (and were) had. What we're not seeing in the photo is the heated gear that's in the B-Alaska bag strapped the pillion seat. That's for another thread but the heated gear is worth every penny when you consider the extra riding time it gives you.

Here are a couple pics of my summer gear, consisting of an Olympia Stealth one-piece suit (love it in the Texas heat. Have removed the knee 'armor' and wear my old dirt gear shin/knee guards under it). Helmet is a Bell RS-1. Not seen are Held 'Steve' model and Gaerne SG-10 boots. When I'm not riding the highways and speeds will be lower, I wear a Scott 350 helmet with Scott goggles.
If the weather is below 70, I don a Fieldsheer Aqua Tour 3/4 length jacket and matching Fieldsheer pants.
