Put the guns away...I still have my Super Tenere.

I had a 2005 FJR. When I met my wife seven years ago we put many miles on that bike while we were dating. We both loved the bike. I sold it in 2010 & bought a 2009 C-14 Concourse. The Concourse had had many great points but there were a few major things we didn't like about it so I traded it in for my 2012 Super Ten.

The Super Ten fits the bill for us when pulling our camping trailer. I can easily load the Super Tenere into the back of our pickup & pull the trailer. When we get to a RV park & set up the trailer, out comes the Super Tenere for our sightseeing transportation. Problem is, my wife never felt the S-10 had the wind protection she wanted & she noticed the less power wnen we passed slow traffice.

Today, I picked up a used 2008 FJR1300. I feel for the $7,400 I spent today it was a great second bike for the S-10.

I'll post pictures tomorrow. I'm excited to have a sport touring motorcycle to compliment my Adventure bike.

Cheers!

Welcome to the FJR/ST family.
There are a few of us here.
I had a 2004 FJR and traded it for a 2013.
It's hard to pick a favorite between the 2012 Tenere and the FJ sometimes.

Enjoy the new toy ::008::

My mate had one a few years ago, they can't half shift ! The thing I noticed most about it was the relative lack of engine braking (I had a V-strom 1000 at the time) and the super smooth motor.

I love the S10, but I do miss my FJR.

I miss the power and the electric wind screen the most, but the FJR sucks on gravel.

::026:: I've had a few rides/trips where the FJR would have been welcome, but because I wasn't riding it as much as the ST, I let it go...

The FJR is a fantastic bike. If I was road only, that was my pick. The Tenere was just a bit more versatile, so I picked that. Enjoy your new ride!

I had 2 FJRs and came from them to the Tenere. I miss the FJR engine and looks, but since doing the flash last Spring the response of the Tenere has fully satisfied me when I need to get the adrenaline up.

I kept my 2005 FJR when I got my 2013 Tenere, I ride it from October thru April here in Oklahoma. Has better wind protection and gives off some heat to keep me warm. I will ride when it is 25 & rising as long as there is no moisture. Also for what I could get for my FJR it is worth keeping. Put about 5000 miles on it a year since I got my Tenere.

Congrats!

I also have both the FJR and S10. My wife much prefers the confort, speed, and wind protection of the FJR. She considers it 'her' bike. I like it for long road trips and effortless speed. It's my second FJR. For around town and off road obviously the S10 kills the FJR. I love the ability to just turn off the pavement and head where ever i like.

Congrats on the new [to you] FJR 'tramp!

As many others, I have both and feel that each compliments the other nicely.

I traded my 2009 KLR in on a 2012 S-10 and knew I had made the right choice within minutes. I still had a 1988 Harley FXR Super Glide that I had purchased new. After riding the S-10 the FXR's handling characteristics left a lot to be desired, I never felt safe riding it again. This was unfortunate since I had just refurbished the FXR from frame up. 90% of the bike was brand new parts. The FXR turned a lot of heads and won trophies at local gatherings but wasn’t really what I (((thought))) I wanted. The desire to ride with confidence was far outweighing the desire to ride the attention getter. So I traded the 1988 FXR in on a 2013 FJR 1300. Within minutes I knew I had made the right choice. The difference between the FXR and FJR still makes me fill a bit guilty of taking advantage of the Yamaha dealer. Both the S-10 and the FJR have their own unique characteristics. To have a choice of which to ride, depending on the type of riding you want to do, is awesome.

I was all set to pick up an FJR to sit beside the S10 then Yamaha came out with the '15 R1. Totally impractical but it will look so cool next to the S10.

Loved my '06 FJR, just didn't get the love it needed, rode the Wee much more. I loved the pull of the FJR though and it satisfied my need for speed, no longer needed now that I have the S10, bye bye FJR.

Funny how we have nearly the exact same bike combo and live so close to each other.
My 2012 is blue though
