being outside of the framework, will they be subject to damage in the event of a tipover ?stgreg said:Got these installed today. Used the plug that Yamaha built into the bike for power.
Looking good!! And, ::004:: to the forum!!!stgreg said:Got these installed today. Used the plug that Yamaha built into the bike for power.
The Yamaha Piaa lights are 3" in diameter. These are 4"Twitch said:The lights look about the same size as the factory piaa lights. Those plastic stone guards might be what are making them look big. If they do the job, that’s what matters.
btw, welcome to the forum.
Correction, these are 35W with an equivalent of 65W output. There are some with 55W bulbs available. Also, I used the PIAA bar mounts called the L-Bracket. The lights and brackets are available through Rycostgreg said:These have the 55W bulbs. They do very well. The picture makes them look larger than they do. ::022::
We were looking at those L-bracket mounts in another thread. They look pretty decent and versatile. I’ve got a set of lights to install and still can’t decide on those brackets on my Givi bars or up under the headlight. You can probably move the lights all over the place to suit with the brackets.stgreg said:Correction, these are 35W with an equivalent of 65W output. There are some with 55W bulbs available. Never found a set of lights that were that size. I really wanted the 530 PIAA to work but, the mounting points were too wide for the brackets and didn't want any lights smaller than the three inches of the brackets.HoebSTer said:Greg, did the brackets work for you?
That's the ones. It took the 1" size to fit the Yamaha crash bar. Techmount has a similar version that is sized wrong. The PIAA bracket works with the 510 series light as I mounted it. I think the more common 520 series would not have worked in the position that I mounted mine, due to the angle of the bar at mounting point. Light angle adjustment is a little tricky also because of the strange bar angle. It's a good set up for the $$$stgreg said:Never found a set of lights that were that size. Yup, they can kick it all right!stgreg said:Lights on
