Getting my personal suspension upgrade finished tomorrow. Did the left side 2.5 years ago and I guess it’s true that upgrades should be done in pairs. Only the highest in spec components to be used, including materials of cobalt chrome, titanium and vitamin E infused ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. Wish me luck!

I’ll be off the bike for a couple of months but at least it’s not prime riding season.

Oh man, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Good luck! Make sure you opt for the better parts :).
There’s a video documentary on grounding if you’ve never heard about it. Helps reduce inflammation. I’ve been doing it a few years now and believe it helps. Say yes to better living through painkillers:)

Good luck with the modifications ! It’s pretty amazing the stuff they can do now days ! Years ago you would have just had to suffer with the pain for the rest of your life.

That’s awesome you’re getting it done, especially with those top-notch materials—sounds like it’s going to be solid! I had to take a couple of months off riding last year after a knee issue, and while it sucked at first, it gave me time to focus on other hobbies and plan some killer routes for when I was back.

I’m 5 weeks out as of today. Getting around without any assistance devices. Knee is healing on schedule, but I’ve got a few degrees of flexion to recover before I’m completely comfortable back on the bike. Did a “test sit” today and can’t quite get the right knee bent far enough to get up on the ball of my right foot comfortably. Probably be good in a couple more weeks.

Had both of mine done 2/27/2011. Never forget that day. They are still pain free. I learned not to overdo the therapy. He told me he didn’t glue the implants in because I was 56 yro. He also told me. Most people get one done and don’t come back. Good luck with yours WJB

Thanks. Agree about not overdoing the PT. I got too impatient when I had my left one done a couple years ago and I managed to piss it off so bad that I lost some of the flexion I’d gained. Never got it back. This time I’m taking a bit slower. Patience might be the hardest part.
