I've posted some of this over in the ADVrider site and noticed a crossover of forum members.
So if you have seen this just scroll on by. :)

I always like to see what others have done to get ideas for I may like or not like for personal mods
to the bike. I tend to do similar set ups to my other rides when a mod has proven to work well.

The original purchase was a fluke. I had not preordered and when I got interested I'd left a message
with a dealer to call if by chance the got a bike in that was available. I only mention this because I did
not pre shop for accessories. I didn't even plan to buy this bike. So when the dealer called I had them load it
with all the Yamaha accessories they had in stock. The factory skid plate is my only regret. Maybe would have
gone with a Wolfman tank bag instead of the Yamaha one.

Anyway, here's what I've been up to.

Living in Utah has altitude temp changes so in one day I can get anywhere from winter to summer conditions.
So a heated grip and vest set up is the first mod. I install a power distribution bar to add a simple source
of tying in multiple power needs. It is switched.
I source the distribution bar from here,

http://www.electricalconnection.com/power-distribution/pplate.htm

I like to put them under the seat. This model fits perfect in the front of the storage area.

I put the relay on top of the tool area.

I used the factory heated grip plug for the relay trigger source. The brown wire works.
Tinned the trigger wire and shoved it in the hole after removing the rubber plug.
Put the rubber plug back to hold it in place. Tight fit, but it can be done.

The heat-trollers were next. One for the grips and one for the vest BMW outlet.

The controllers went on the left side fairing. I covered the wiring with liquid electrcal tape just cause.

As far as outlets I put a dedicated BMW style on the left side too.
Up on the flat spot opposite the factory plug.

The heat-troller controlled BMW outlet I put it out of the way on a plate.

The passenger one was put in one of the factory subframe holes.

More in a little while.

For a GPS mount I cut some angle iron and welded a bar spacing it to use the
handle bar bolts.

Holds it in a good veiwing spot without blocking any dash views.

Originally I had made this plate bolted to the stock rack. It was to hold
a Givi setup. After seeing the Altrider rack set up I switched it out.

The Altrider has a nice storage space that holds a Slime compressor perfect.

I also added Altrider crash bars.
Slipped a tool tube just under the bar for protection and out of the way.

This may seem a little hokey, but I like to have a drink handy.
After a leaking water bottle in the tank bag I decided to get the bottle
away from the camera stuff. Made a little L plate and used the footpeg
bolts to hold it in place. It's easy to reach riding and out of the passengers way.

These headlight covers came out of Canada.

Not the best shot. I use a Vista Cruise throttle lock. Easy instal with a little bracket twisting.

The maiden voyage was a double up ride to Jackson Hole. I wanted the top trunk empty
for shopping space. So I picked up these flat bottom duffels fron Recreation Outlet.

Used some shortened snap straps to keep it in place.

Overkill

Home Depot has these heavy duty invoice bags that have hide a key spot.

Changed out some tools while I was at it. Still fits, tightly, in the factory spot.

Always have the AirHawks. :)

Put the clear bra kit on it to protect the finish and then it was time to
test it all out. ::001:: :)

Very nice pluric and thank you for the flat bottom duffels.

I like the document tube farkle. How much clearance do you have? Concerns for long travel.

You are again welcome. As I mentioned to you I know how it is when you see a farkle
and jsut want it now, needed or not. :)

As far as the tool tube it's kinda hard to tell by that photo, but it is nicely protected by
the crash bars and quite high. If the bike fell over it would not be touched. It would
take a high rock or tree stump to get to it. I think I would have other worries if I was
riding in that type of terrain. ;)

Hey, pluric. Welcome! Funny thing, I’ve been an ADVrider member for a long time (different handle), but never go to the ST thread. I kinda feel like everything I need for the Tenere is here, so thanks for posting. I haven’t built my wiring harness yet so it’s interesting to see what others are doing. Nice write up and pics on the wiring and other mods.

I mounted a Powerlet on the side panel over the battery, fused but direct to the battery for tending and my electric vest. I didn't take a picture of that but will if someone wants to see it. I'm debating changing the factory power outlet to a powerlet, but haven't really prioritized it right now. I am using it as-is to power my tankbag, which I built with GPS mounted to the outside, Autocom intercom on the inside to pipe the GPS and Music to my helmet. It's a Magnetic Marsee I've had for years, I originally made this set up for my FJR. Works great.

I originally was going to use the side covers as mounting areas too.
I bought plug in wiring to disconnect the outlets if I needed to remove the
side covers. After looking at it for a while I decided to leave all removable
items as is so if a mechanic ever tore into it they wouldn't start snipping
stuff off.

The BMW style dedicated outlet is mounted on the flat area of the fairing.
I'm leaving the factory outlet for ipod charger.

Very neat, very impressive job. I like that it looks like the bike was made that way. Hack jobs always come back to haunt you. Usually on the trail, or in a remote place. ::008::

Thanks for the info, I'll apply some of it to my bike.

Stopped by Home Depot today and picked up a Document Bag. Pluric showed the Document Bag and I found the 3 Pack Organizer Bags. all of them seem to be well made. Smaller bags for 1/4" sockets, 3/8" sockets, hex tools, and whatever needs to be easily accessed.
I went to HD and looked at the same bags! Agree they look well made and useful sizes.

I did forget to mention those handy three pack things. I like that you can see whats inside without having to open it.
Most the time I'm shopping anywhere I try to think of how it can be used on a bike.

I also forgot to mention when drilling the mount hole for a left fairing outlet move it
to the right or the factory winglets won't fit. Just got reminded in another thread.
