To night started out as a slow night and I was on the deep south east end of our county when one of our deputies reported that he had turned on a motorcycle and the rider blacked out and ran. He was on the far western edge of out county. It was not long before another deputy located the bike and attempted a traffic stop. Once more the ride cut off his tail lights and ran. I was about forty miles away and he ran the opposite direction into a neighboring county and into a good size city. They chased him around town for a bit before he ran north, not really at high speeds, into yet another county were that counties officers took over. He ran around in that county for a bit before heading east back into ours. By this time I was in a position to assist them. I was set up at an intersection of two farm to market roads when he came by with five units behind him on a cruiser and no helmet. I fell in line and when the other county dropped out I was close enough to see him ride. He was all over the road, in the on coming lane, you name it. We came into a small town and he attempted to make a right hand turn and nearly went through a doughnut shop before he got it straight and came back out on the highway. I know what your thinking, no doughnut jokes. But I was kind of hungry. We kept after him and I knew from the way he was riding it would not be much longer. Sure enough he tried a left on to a county road with to much speed and went wide into the grass and he was done. Even though the bike was down, he was up and running. Two tasers later he was in cuffs. The most amazing things were yet to come. When I was looking at the bike, a Honda Shadow, I thought wow that front tire is a Shinko 705. On a cruiser? Yep, it sure was, with a street tire on the back. Next we were checking his phone to try to determine why he took officers on a 100 mile hour long ride through three county's. To our amazement, during the pursuit, he was calling his girl friend on the phone. Thankfully he was not hurt and no one else was either. Every time I think that I have seen it all, I get amazed.
