If side cases aren't in the picture, it looks like the most you'd have to do is remove the grab rails, depending upon width of the top case. Maybe you want pics of a top in that spot with panneirs? DC Strom was tinkering with that idea, but I don't know if he ever finished up. He was having to turn the top case sideways when his Jesse panniers were adjusted closest possible to sides of the bike. You might want to drop him PM.

I figured it would be good for around town and short distances. I am also looking at panniers that open from the side instead of the top, but popping a Givi top case off is just a key turn to get access to the panniers.

The Touratech set-up was looking like $400 or so by the time it landed in Oz.

For about $5 I made this to do the same thing:

Instead of an auxiliary tank you could mount anything you like.....

I have one of those racks. No top box there though. It mounts to the same places as the seat, so theoretically, you could carry the equivalent of a passenger on the rack! I've also removed the oem rack, cleaned up the tail section nice. If I need the cargo space, it's three bolts and three Touratech spacers and the rack is back on in seconds.

If I knew how to put pictures up I would have a long time ago.

Hey Don, me too. I contacted Venture and asked him how to post photos. I will forward the PM to you. Until then here is one way to "attach" photos to a post.

Go to http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?action=media and setup a photo album. This is what you can use for a source of your attached photos.

I am sure there are others out there that can help us refine our photo albums and how to attach the photos.

Does the rack only attach to the bike via the passenger seat bolts? Would it be stiff enough to mount a Givi adapter to it and then a top case?

I believe it also clicks in like the stock passenger seat. With that logic, you should be able to put just about anything on there as that configuration is designed to hold a human.

Yes, still tinkering, but hope to get it complete in the next week or two. Here's what it looks like with the Gobi in position, just figuring out the mounting at the moment. With the Altrider rack installed there is enough space behind the box to strap a medium-sized (and not too heavy) duffle.

Mounts just like the OEM seat , uses the stock passenger seat bolts and shares the stock rear seat tab. It's up to you how much weight you put on it.

Here's a better shot without the Twisted Tail Bag. Yes, the eucalyptus trees are in California. And lookie, gloves!
