Look for my write up on page 2 about the new guys fabricator in Texas under Clifford. I made back rests that are simple, cheap and easy to make. And very durable! Made out of car headrests. I have one set up for the driver seat and the one.for the passenger. The brackets are simple. I'm on the road now, but I'll post up more links and stuff when I get stopped tonight...
Typing at stop lights is challenging.
Home now and thought I'd give you the Cliff Notes on the Backrest!
My Write up is on page three now. Let's hope the pictures made it through!
I like having a backrest for my old bones when I'm riding long distances. I've built and used these before on my KLR, so thought I'd get some more and adapt them to the Tenere.
I found that the older Isuzu Rodeos have this great headrest that makes a perfect backrest for motorcycles. Before you ask, I get the guides and headrest out of the junkyards. Then straighten the post a little to make them fit as backrest better.
I did have to make the base, but I'm a problem solver and this is what I came up with. And they remove fast and easy and can be shifted for the Pillion. Or run both if the S.O. thinks she needs one wihile you're using yours!
Front bracket!
back bracket! The guides are not in this picture. The Guides are the square plactic things that lock the headrest in position. And they have height adjustments in them too!
Not as fancy or complicated as you'd think!
