I purchased these from another user who never installed them. After installation, I find myself wondering if they would look better in a color. Do you think I should a) paint them, b) bedline them or c) plasti-dip them? If yes to one of these options, is black the most logical choice?

They look a little too big in my opinion, but i would try plasti-dip in black maybe it'll look better

Thanks for the input. I've never used plasti-dip. Does it hold-up to mud and dirt?

I would not plasti them as it peels off, especially when chips occur . Get yourself a good primer and urethane based paint. If it were mine, I would paint the sides white to match your bike and the front, top and rear , red to match the wheels and any red decals you may have.

Try PlastiDip first. It is tougher than you would think. If you don't like it you can peel it off and paint it. You have nothing to lose but about six bucks for a can of white.

I did an entire motorcycle in the stuff and it lasted pretty darn well for over a year. This is a 2012 silver NC 700X I made red with PlastiDip.

That sounds great but the bike is a white pearl color. I doubt I could find that in a rattle can. I am good with numbers and mechanical stuff... color coordination and style are not my strong suit. ???

I agree with the other statements made, it doesn't hold up that well, but its cheap, easy, and completely reversible. I actually think it would hold up well on the fork protectors because that is an area that doesnt get much abrasion. I would not put it on say the tank where your knees are constantly rubbing.

IMO factory white would help hide the size as would removing the lettering.

Wow, no offence intended but they are really ugly. Do you do any off Tarmac riding to warrant the protection? Maybe they look better in real life. I think matte black is slimming. You can get satin or matte black in a rattle can of auto acrylic. Nice and safe to use as well.

No offense taken. I ride off-road frequently so protection is a must.

Much, much better, great work.
+1

I have similar guards and initially bought white Plasti-Dip but it looked strange next to the pearl white OEM fender. So I bought black carbon fiber wrap instead. Same principle and low cost as the Plasti-Dip, if finish gets damaged or you change your mind replacing it is cheap and easy.

Good thing you didn't buy Touratech guards as covering their logo would have depreciated them by $150 instantly. Lol
