My vote goes for keeping it simple similar to your first example.

The first example's oval is a bit squished. Change the oval shape to the standard Euro oval that started it all and most oval stickers follow like the below moab sticker...from where I just returned from yesterday, coincidentally. My first trip there and had a great time. We were on ATV rather than our bikes so I hope to return on our dual sports this year or next.

+1 on the reflective. That would be a plus.

I prefer it only having YST and the website. No desert guy. Dunes might be OK, but then it starts to lose the clean look. I guess I'd have to see the dune design before I have an opinion on that but I suspect I'll like the cleaner look of letters and website only.

I don't know if Venture lets ATV trip reports on this sight but I would love seeing your trip report and pictures . I have only been through Moab on a street bike.

As I stated early in this thread, I'm all for keeping it simple. The YST and website on a reflective background works for me!!!

Chad,
I'm off for Moab as well in a few days! Only problem is we will be in the cage............ :(

I think the reflective is a must. Let's just say that's in at this point.

Is everybody ok with YST as the big letters?

Also, do you just want "Yamaha Super Tenere" as the text or does everybody want a connection to the website - ala "YamahaSuperTenere.com"? I'm impartial.

IMO.. gotta have the site name, this is a promotion of the site and unless you're already a member you won't understand it... it's a rolling business card.

Ok fellas, this makes it pretty easy.

1. Reflective
2. YST (big letters)
3. YamahaSuperTenere.com (little letters)

I'll go forward with some quotes on producing these.

Just to throw a fly in the ointment... Why not:

S10

yamahasupertenere.com - small rint along the bottom edge of the sticker.
Just brain-storming.

What about adding a chrome silhouette of a naked gal? Like the ones you see on 18 wheelers' mud flaps? :D

That's the same comment/argument I made way back when over on ADVrider. Just can't make myself call, or associate, this bike with that truck. I tend to abbreviate it ST, but that has it's own issues. For the sticker, though, I think YST is the way to go and yes, definitely have the site name to define/explain it.

Most sticker shops should have a pattern for the "Euro Oval" so getting the shape right won't be an issue. Then it just a matter of getting the font to be one that looks good. I've seen variation of the oval stickers with different font saying the same thing and some look great and others are just off. Usually the thicker, blocky letters look the best. I guess when you see a sticker on it's own, one wouldn't really notice it, but side by side, most people have a preference. For example, look at the following three and they each have a different feel.

Good point, Chad. Those MT stickers are in the order of my preference, I like 1 the best, 3 the least. Although, I could be swayed towards 2 over 1... Gut reaction was 1 then 2 though.

Somebody else chime in. Perhaps I'll just make the concepts and post them and have a poll.

I'm with you on this. It would be good to see a mock up of "YST" with the same bold font of #1 above (plus our website info below, as has been discussed).

:)

I think the number 3 font would look good with the YST and the yamahasupertenere.com in the band of the oval.

The bold looks good, but with another letter in the mix, there may not be enough definition. Just my two cents..lol

I kinda like the idea of the white oval with black rim...black lettering.

YST would be my preference in the bold lettering and the "www.yamahasupertenere.com" on the bottom breaking thru the black oval border in very small print.

Half the fun of these white oval stickers is figuring out what they mean...getting close enough to them to see the "fine print" of actually what it means, or the website in this case.

YMMV
