I'm about to place an order with Eastern Beaver
http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Bike_Specific/Super_Tenere/super_tenere.html

I need to connect

GPS
Spot
Stebel Horn
phone charger
heated grips
heated jacket
auxiliary lights

It seems like I can connect lights and heated grips to the S10 harness with these connectors. I assume if I do that I'll be able to work out how to make the switches work etc. Lights I'd run off the high beam switch - unless I decide to run one as a fog, in which case I'd run it on low beam. These would be Denali's, so very little draw.

GPS unswitched off a Hella plug - no problem there.
Spot - switched or unswitched? never had one before. Powered off the standard lighter plug, but that will probably get changed to a Hella.
The Stebel already has it's own relay and harness, connected directly to the battery, will leave it like that.
Phone/battery charger will just run from a double adapter from one of the two outlets when I need it.
Heated gear - from a switched relay

So by my count, given that the aux lights and heated grips will run directly from the bike harness, and the horn is on the battery, all I need for a fuse panel is
- one unswitched for GPS
- one switched for heated gear

so if I get the 3CS fuse panel, along with the connectors for the grips and lights, that's all I'll need, and I'll have one spare slot in the fuse panel.
FORGOT to add this...

You concur?

Sorry to be long-winded...

If I interpret this comment correctly, you are going to run a spot off the OE lighter plug? If so I believe this plug has a small fuse (3 amp, maybe?) so you may want to check this out first before deciding on the final number.

I wish Eastern Beaver had created their harness for the Fuse block before I installed mine, I like the looks of the new one and it does away with the Posi-lock thingamajigs which I hate.

Good luck and don't forget to write it up and take pictures for the rest of us.

Either the Spot or the GPS will run off the OE plug. I doubt the Spot draws any more power than a GPS but if there are any issues I'll just make sure th GPS is in the OE plug.

I've never run a Spot either, but don't they have their own battery? I don't think they're primarily aimed at motorsports; I think they are also aimed at hikers and kayakers and other people who don't have bike power. And if you were running off bike power, perhaps it would be preferred to not switch it with the bike, because if someone needs to find you with it, you couldn't be sure the bike would be turned on. You want the Spot to run all the time, right?

ah yes good point. I don't have the spot yet, but it must have it's own battery - but running off the bike battery will certainly run a lot longer...

With the amount of accessories you are attaching I recommend getting a FZ-1 fuze box.
http://www.cyclenutz.com/Fuzeblock-Fuse-Block-FZ-1_p_92.html

I would also get the connector pins for the stock grip and light connectors. For my install I did not use the grip connector as the switched power for the relay. Why use that connection when you can directly wire heated grips to it and have an extra fuze box connection. I used the accessory socket power lead for switched relay power since it is easily overloaded as an accessory power source. I then rewired the socket to the fuze box along with a powerlet socket. Right now I have heated grips and both power sockets wired to the fuze box. I may put the grips on the stock connector if I need to free up a fuze connection later. I suggest you figure out what connections you need where and order some wire looms and connectors to support a clean install.

Wierd - how are you supposed to keep it charged? Googling...

I guess that means one less connection to go on the fuse box

They run on either 'AA' or 'AAA' batteries....they specifically want you to run Lithium disposable batteries, such as the Energizer Ultimate Lithium's.

It runs on 2 Lithium AA batteries. I ran mine on a 14-day trip, riding every day, many long days (8-10 hours) and the batteries did not run down.

I had used a Blue Seas in my Strom, but with the aux light and heated grip plugs so easily accessible it's all more than I needed for my heated grips and GPS. For that wiring I just modified an ordinary spade connector to fit into the heated grip connector on the harness. For my heated gear and battery tender I connected those together and went directly to the battery. Clean setup that only requires one additional set of wires going to the battery. Much better than the rats nest I had in the Strom and no additional relays needed.

The spot runs a long time on AA batteries. I run mine 1 yr then change the batteries just to be safe. depends of course how much you use it and if you use the automatic tracking. I prefer manual tracking, push the track button once an hour. Plenty enough.
Great thanks Ron, and thanks for "coming out". You know you've blown your reputation of being a "farkle-free zone", right? ;D
