I'm fitting DLR lights so I've just bought an on/off switch to fit alongside my switchgear on the handlebars of my S10 so I can turn them off manually. The light instructions say I need a switch that can handle 1.7amps.
I only paid £2.00 for it and there is no amp rating for my ultra cheap product. The led lights have a loom with them that includes a relay.

Is 1.7amps going to fry my switch ?

Thanks for any advice.

I'm guessing here, but are the lights @20 watts? If so then you should be okay, I have the same on my V Strom and run 2 X 55 watt fogs.

Thanks for the replies,
I've checked the fitting instructions again and just realised that I need a switch that can handle 0.75 amp, not 1.75 amps , so I guess that I'll be fine with what I bought. Just goes to show that you should check your prices. I found the same switch on UK ebay for £18.00 ???.

For anyone interested, here is the led DRL spec : supply voltage 9-32v dc, power rating 0.75amps, light output 2 * 600 lumen (600 lux ), colour temp 6000k, life expectancy >500,000 hrs.

I'll post a pic of them fitted, if it ever warms up enough to get out in my work shop and put them on my bike ! It's minus 1 deg C outside at the moment and we have 3 millameters of snow. You fellas from the northern parts of the USA/Canada etc will understand ::) :D

Going outside now to shovel snow...............I may be some time ::025::
