Okay folks. Have had S10 for year and half only put up 13500 miles due to illness and have enjoyed every minute. My last 4 bikes were 2004 FJR 2007 FJR AS 2008 FJR 2010 BMW K1300GTSE. Thinking of new machine. Should I wait for 2014 S10 or go for 2014 FJR?

Thanks for your input..... ::021:: ::022::

I don't get it... You have a new s10 and you're thinking about to swap it for the "new" one... Am I getting this right?
Why not the hype WCGS? That's a change.

I don't understand the point of the question. We don't know what the new one will offer and have no idea what kind of riding you plan to do.
I would surmise by the low miles on your current Tenere and intent to part with it you aren't really keen on this type of bike so I'll say FJR. Maybe that'll suit you more. But still filling in the blank on riding interest.

Keep your current S10 and pick up the new '14 FJR with electronic suspension. Never too late to add another tool to the toolbox!

We'll expect a full report on the new FJR! ;)

I have a 2012 Super Tenere that I traded a 2009 KLR in for last year and recently traded is a 1988 FXR Super Glide for a 2013 FJR. Its a nice combination.

okay folks was just trying to get an idea of whether anyone from an objective point of view had any idea's about the new FJR. I most likely will keep the S10. Saw the FJR in a showroom at the launch of the MT-09 and started getting itchy feet. Unfortunately no demos on so cannot get a ride. Anyway will most likely stay on this page. Thanks Guys. ::021:: ::022::

I had a demo ride on both the S10 and FJR. I also rode a Concours to boot and bought the S10. Better riding position, soaks up the bumps better, and can go offroad which the other 2 really can't. For getting a fast long distance street bike, the FJR is great. I just want to be able to do an Iron Butt and long trail rides on the same bike. The S10 can do that with ease.

I have a 2007 FJR and a 2012 Tenere. For me, I use the FJR to ride double -- it's lower to the ground and easier for my passenger to get on and off. With a PCV with two maps on the FJR, I really don't see much advantage in getting the new edition. The Tenere suits me for solo riding with more compliant suspension + more travel for the bumpy back roads.

If you can afford both, do it.

Dilemma understood by me as variety is the spice of life!

Even though you love the S10 and its all set up the way you like it, sometimes its time for a change.

Better your motorcycle than your spouse...

It all comes down to your riding type. If you off road then no brainer. If you never off road and go on longish trips then no brainer. I know the S10 does distance well but not as well as the FeeJer all considered.

How about a K1600GT?

I would start by riding more, fjrden, 13500 miles is not even broken in. Also, wait until November 4th, when the new Super Tenere will be announced.....
A simple suggestion?

Keep the S10. Buy a holdover 13 FJ and put a low inertia, self-contained oiling turbo on it, set the boost @ 6 psi and have fun with both.

fjrden: There's a good number of folks who left FJR's for S10's because of more cockpit space & better seating position. Keep the S10. Use FJR $$ for serious farkling.

Gotta agree with you 'Geek. The Red is sexy but looks like I'll have these two for quite a while!
