I started adding my OEM heated grips last night.

The wife was away, the kids were in bed, and I was a kid at Christmas, the perfect opportunity.

Turns out I should have stopped and thought more.

I sat in the loungeroom and tinkered to get things ready. I built up the grip controller, and in my haste saw the two little screws for that box as a weak link. Two drops of loctite later and the plastic shattered around the screw holes.

Doh! No idea why I didn't stop and think. Should have left it for a better time.

Hmmm what to do now. Silastic it to the mount?

Any other ideas?

Cheers,

Did you let it dry before setting the screws or did they hydro-lock in the bottom of the hole and blow out? Never used a thread lock on a self tap in plastic, just curious on the cause.

Nor really site which plastic and what you are trying to accomplish ore repair at this point.

That said and as long as you are able to trulY remove the plastic attacked by the Lock tite, hardware store cement for ABS & PVC will weld the plastic used for m/c switch housings.

The plastic of the controller just got softened by the loctite and cracked.

Just shouldn't have used it.

I've siliconed it to the bracket and that's worked. Should get the install finished tomorrow.
