Someone once said "sympathy comes somewhere between sh*t and syphillis in their dictionary .... so not good.

Boss wants to see me .... "How's the healing comin' along soldier?" "I really feel for ya ... la la la ... " " You look bored out of your skull son" ... slap on the shoulder ... "bet you can't wait to get back at it hey?" "so where are you on the scale of recovery?" "Oh that good." "Good because we have a job for you!"

??? From where I'm standing when your boss comes a lookin it only generally means one thing ... something ain't right and it needs fixin ... and it needs fixin good and quick. So that normally means a bit sh*tty and rather risky ... qualify that as really sh*tty and very freakin scary/dangerous. Thank the Lord ... I can't take this fiddling about waiting malarkey. Yeah! ::012:: We got us a new mission ::015:: ....

Steady there soldier we need you boys to do the CQP thing again .... ??? Really, babysitting the press and politicians, again. On no, last time it didn't go well for the team ... we are really not conditioned for this sort of thing. Oh well I suppose we have to get on with it. >:D

Funny thing though I got to see the damning report from before .... none of it was good. We were apparently 'truculent' among a host of other unkind comments. I'm so proud of my boys for that. Truculent ... fantastic word and we're that alright :)

Grab bug out bag and kit, kiss the beloved (bikes of course), kiss the wife as well, kick the dog, check out the armourer, we're good to go. Only a couple of days ... how much trouble can we get into .... loads trust me ... it's what we do ::008::

Thanks for doing the hard lifting for the rest of us. It's not fair to you, but many of us do appreciate your efforts. Please stay safe out there.

Swag, just think what kind of a mission you would have been assigned if you would have taken two rounds. :)

Thanks for what you and your team do.

Come back safe guy.

Adjective
Eager or quick to argue or fight; aggressively defiant.

Sounds appropriate & not somebody I'd want coming to visit, if I were on the other side.
Hurry home.

Well we've just had a very interesting three days of escorting a disparate bunch of characters around some rather inhospitable areas. Not a role that we particularly relish. Anyway they're all safe and sound and it looks like everyone was happy and got what they came for.

Mercifully, our leadership has stated that we can't perform this type of function in the future as it potentially stifles our ability to respond to threats in the only way we know how and have been trained.

So I'm now back in the comfort of civilised surroundings with my feet up contemplating the upcoming period of training and evaluation. Hopefully all will remain calm over the festive season and I can get some biking in ..... Hopefully.

Close Quarters Protection? Oh, you mean cat herding. Glad you made it back in one piece and w/o leaking any more fluids. If they called you truculent the first time, you must have succesfully avoided using the statement, "no, you can't go there because your stupid ass will get shot... f*^kwad." They use the word "disrespectful" for that. :D

::008:: The last time I pulled BSD (Baby Sitting Detail), two of my co-workers got a day of suspension . . . ::013::

Enjoyable story, I'll share: The Chief asked our squad to herd about a group of Swedish journalists for the evening. Down side of being in a speacialized unit, you always pull crap details. Basically a big PR bit for him and the City. This was the mid nineties, and our fair city was having a bit of an PR nightmare. Well, we got permission to pull a cage from the rear of one of our squad cars, want to make the journalists cozy in the August heat. The night goes on without a hitch, nothing stupid done, nothing stupid said, we were good to go.

Well after dropping the journalists off, and everyone heading home, a Signal 108 kicks off. Officer life in danger, so we all roll code 3 to the scene. We get there and an apprehension was made. A tall, skinny, crack head, who happens to be a horrible transvestite. One of the district guys put the 10-15 (Arrested subject) in the back of one of my co-workers cars so he could do the paperwork. When I ask him which car, we all realize it was the ONE WITHOUT A CAGE! ::010:: Needles to say, skinny transvestite crack head gets his cuffs in front of him, jumps in the driver seat and takes off. Yikes . . . and the race is on, nothing like chasing a vehicle through the city streets and posting the vehicle description over the air as Police vehicle number XXX ::010::

Anyway, the vehicle chase comes to a dramatic conclusion by the suspect driving through the front doors of a washateria, but not after plowing through a fire hydrant. Luckily no one was injured, and the washateria was empty due to the early morning hour. What a sight to see though, ??? By the way, fire hydrants in my ole city have the valves above ground, so they shoot water in the air like the movies :p

After it was all said and done, the two guys whose car was less the cage each got a day of suspension for removing the cage, even though they had permission. The up side of the story, was anytime afterward when the Chief would try to gives us BSD, we would just remind him of the incident, and somehow we always got passed over for the gig . . . ;)

I left ou the name of the city to protect the guilty . . . . ::019::

This is the second time for us. Last time out was very bad in every respect and we got into way too much trouble for our actions and telling them the way it is. We were not selected for what we do because of our ambassadorial traits as you might imagine. We are very highly skilled operatives trained for a very specific purpose ... and we do that very well. Very well indeed. I have it confirmed that we'll definitely not be ordered to do this again as there is a strong likelihood that if anything were to go wrong our solution to the problem would not make good viewing for folk back home :)

Yep, they don't want to see what really happens when you have to do your job. They just want it done, but on a level that means they don't have to really accept what happens when you do and with no inconvenience to them. Always amazes me how many people have that opinion, even within the service. I won't tell the whole story, but I once had my pistol aimed at the head of a major that was on the hairy edge of violating USMC orders with property inherently dangerous to large qtys of people. He looked at me and actually said "you wouldn't shoot me..... would you?" Thankfully, the two ghostly pale privates answered him, (Yes he will!!), because all I said was "halt" (#3). The idiot really thought he could do what ever he wanted just because he was a field grade officer, regardless of orders or common sense.

Trouble .... us .... I don't think so O:)

We've been and done that ... we're back and not a hint of anything untoward ... or so we'd have everybody believe. We did manage to "borrow" some stuff from the Brits and the Danes. We seem to have acquired a couple of battle flags for our HQ ... the items were captured in broad daylight by our superior forces. We do like a momento or two. :D Anyway those Brits can't complain .... their SF guys purloin anything that isn't bolted down. They have a serious reputation for "nicking" shiney things and stuff. ::)

And he used SNAFU, we have all heard it, but many may not know it came from the ARMY during WWII, meaning situation normal, all f*@#ed up.
