My 23 came with a set of these lock cores. I bought Givi Outback 37 liter panniers. before I try to take apart the Givi cores, can anybody tell me will these fit in the Givi boxes? They look a little different around the front outer ring. I have done some searching but can’t seem to find any answers.
I don’t want to take them apart if it’s a no go. I‘m a marginal wrench at best and don’t want to mess anything up for no reason!

Any input/adice would be awesome..

Thanks!

I can’t say much about the Givi locks in side cases now although I’ve pulled many apart in different boxes over the years and Givi has a tendency of having different locks in many different ways.
The centre may be the same but the outer rings and how the lock is actuated seems to change with every model. I’ve got at least a half dozen different Givi lock setups.
The only way you’ll know is to pull apart and look at it.

I've "heard" that the three locks under the seat don't work on the OE GIVIs. That doesn't make much sense though. Yamaha has discontinued the "old" style boxes which those locks fit. Why would they put locks in there that no longer fit anything they make. Surely, they can't expect people to go find old style boxes just because of the lock sets. Has anybody contacted Yamaha for an answer?

I had to remove the base plate from the factory locks to get them to work on the yamaha /Givi panniers. I swapped the metal base for the plastic ones that came with my panniers

So they do work with minor modifications? The three that were under the seat?

Another thing I remembered last night , the round black plastic disc (from Givi) that attaches to the base of the lock cylinder used longer screws than those safety torx screws. They were a Phillips type screw and The instructions said to use loctight.

Yes definitely use blue Lock-tight if you don’t the screws will eventually fall out and it will be pretty difficult to get everything back together properly, lots of folks including me have learned that lesson the hard way. A Yamaha dealer assembled the ones on my previous 2013 without lock-tight and a few thousand miles later the lock fell out of the top case while riding so I had to buy a new lock. After that I removed the screws from all the locks and applied blue lock-tight. A simple lesson learned the hard way.

Why did I never think to do this. I was so confused why they included a bag of lock cores on my 23.

Going to take a looky loo.

My left 24l never fully seated on the rear mounts. Now it's starting to rattle. Anyone got a fix for that?... not to hijack the thread.

I tried. Don't see a way to make it work at a glance.

Gimmi Outblacked Trippers cylinders have a stud built in that mates to a cam. Diff setup but the cylinder itself does fit in the givi sleeve.
