So my trusty 2007 Vstom 1000 has finally sold and it's time to move forward on a S10, pretty simple right, not so. Here is my issue my local dealer can not source a new S10 so if I want new I will have to wait untill 2017. My other option is a 2012 S10 with 3500 Km's on the clock with a set of Givi bags and top case for $10,000 (Can). I've done a lot of reading on this site and others and it seems that the 2014 and newer seem to be a better bike. I have tried out a 2016 and was very impressed hence why I sold the Strom but am concerned that I may not be happy with a 2012. I would like to hear from the guy's that have choosen to pick up a used 2012, 2013 instead of the newer model and if they are happy with the choice.

Bought a 13 used with very low miles and have enjoyed it.14,000 miles in and I would do it again.Depends on what you want to spend,I'm sure 14 and newer are better.I've seen some great prices on gen 1 teneres.

New Brunswick. There is a dealer 2 hours away that has two 2016 but will not dealer trade them to my local dealer and I will not deal with them as they want $1500 more than what I can get a 2017 for.

Can't go wrong with either. the 2014 and up has a bit more options, a bit more power, and cruise.
go on your mobile thingie maggier and open kijiji. Select canada, and search away. There's some killer deals outside of montreal.

No point going to the states. Exchange sucks, and the import process has been changed where you need a broker, and cannot import it yourself.
for reference I have a 2012 that I bought new in the states (when our dollar was at a 5-10% higher exchange than the US dollar ::010::) so got a smoking deal.
My bike has 75K on it. Love it.

This, 100%. I've got the '14 clutch basket, and having twice ridden 2014 models, I can't tell the difference between them. But, I'd sure love to have cruise.

What he said. I love my '13 (bought new for $10.5K in June 2015 with $1k in Yamaha accessories and an additional year of warranty at no cost), but I'd sure like to have cruise. With that said, I run an Excel throttle lock and it's not bad-not electronic cruise by any means, but not bad. You live in a beautiful country. How about checking other dealers further out and trying for a fly n ride? Crossing a good piece of Canada wouldn't be a bad way to break in that new ride!

FWIW there's a guy with a '14 with 1600 miles on it in Maine on our "for sale" site (below). Price isn't bad and it Should be close enough to go for. I don't know what hassles/issues involved in bringing her into Canada, but might be worth checking out.....

Hi
I don't know what side of the country that you are on, but my 2 local dealers each had a yellow '16 non ES model just a couple (maybe few) weeks ago.
