I've been preaching about how this is the future of GPS navigation. They are going to make these in both 10.1" and 7". The 7" might be a bit big, but imagine one of these mounted to your motorcycle, running Google Maps for navigation, as well as any other apps you can dream up. Use the wi-fi hotspot on your cell phone so you don't have to pay for a separate data plan. We're almost there... Probably a 5" version of this would be perfect.

At least we know it can play Angry Birds! ::003:: I would have liked to see more of a view of the tablet's functionality.

However, of any OS, whether it be Android, iOS, or QNX (Blackberry Playbook), Google has the most potential to port their tablet into the motorcycle market. No malice intended, but seeing someone roll into a backwoods gas station to fill up their GSA or S10 with their iPad mounted to their handlebar might be a little over the top imo.

I guess I just don't see Apple tending to the ruggedized motorcycle market anytime soon and am not sure if I want to.

Those ruggedized Panasonic laptops cost about $3000 to $4000!! A buddy of mine uses one for his job and it's mucho dinero for my liking..

You'd think Apple would have a model of the iPad that's ruggedized.. But there are aftermarket cases to make it semi-rugged, at least waterproof..

If you could actually process pictures or had enough space to store pictures I would love something like this but for now Android and iPad tablets are nothing but mobile internet browsers and toys. Perhaps if Panasonic made a ToughPad Win7/8 tablet PC I might have an interest. Until then I have my magnesium encased Toshiba Tecra at 3.3 lbs.

We use those things all the time. Very, very good product and I can vouch for the fact that they stand up to real rough treatment.

I saw somewhere the 10.1" version of the Toughpad is going to go for $1300. Steep, but they'll get cheaper in time. Keep in mind a Zumo 650 is $650 and isn't a fully functional, internet connected computer.

Not sure what you mean by process and store pictures. Just about all Android devices have this capability. The ToughPad has a 2MP front and a 5MP rear camera.

I've wondred about this too, but until they build one with built in GPS receiver and not have to use data, I won't be jumping on board.
