I installed the Novasight H7 bulbs and 3D printed my own caps but the caps hit the forks near full lock. Am I the only one experiencing this? I can't see making them any shorter or the bulbs won't fit. s10 headlight.jpg

Remove the caps and see how much space you have between bulbs and forks at full lock. That will tell you how much you can shorten cap depth.

My Deftoner caps were close, but didn't hit the fork tubes. I was also using Novsight bulbs. Which Novsight bulbs are you using? (They make a bunch of different styles)

I was running A385-N7 versions. They are 77.5mm long as opposed to yours being 84mm long.

That said, I'm pretty sure others have used the style you have in the past w/o issues.

Its not my model but I can modify it.
If you got it from Bikelord on thingiverse, then there are two versions, and one is shorter. Print the shorter one -- it clears the forks.

Your caps look a little shiny for ABS -- hope you're not using PLA.

Its PETG....not great but we'll see how it holds up. Should be good up to about 170F I can print ABS I just don't have an enclosure. You can anneal PLA and it increase the temp resistance quiet a bit. Almost to ABS temps.

Which ones are you using? I'm about to pull the trigger on these but dont know if theyre the correct ones. Thoughts?
As said above, I was using the A385-N7 version. There are several versions in use by various members. If you scroll down in the description for your link you will see the OEM part number and other data. Those are NOVSIGHT-N15 Series and are 25 watts each and 5000 lumens each. The length is 78.5mm, which is comparable to the 77.5mm version I was using. They should fit fine with the Deftoner caps. Those are less power draw and more efficient than the version I used, but mine had a fan too.

While on the topic, another option:

73.4mm overall height / 6000K / 10000 lumens / 30w per bulb - 60w total / fan included / no external driver (all-in-one)
Amazon Link
Novsight Link

This appears to be an "N11" model, something in-between the A385-N7 and N15 models already mentioned in the thread.

I just installed them, so I've no clue how they are at night yet. Initial impression is that they don't seem SUPER bright to the point it hurts to look at, but I don't want something so hot that it's melting things and blinding other drivers (that's what aux lighting is for). I may not have "clocked" them at the ideal position, though.

Looks like the N15 are the most efficient of the three options (25w per bulb yielding the same 10000 lumens), but they are 6500K. I subjectively feel that the bluer light "washes out" colors (especially greens) and minimizes contrast to an extent, making it more difficult for me to see (despite marketing lingo stating it's easier on the eyes). I vastly prefer 4300~5000K, but it seems they either can't make them bright enough in LED, or they're so unpopular that there's not enough demand to produce them. Most folks prefer the bluish bulbs, I'm just weird.
