Hello everyone! I currently ride a 2010 HS RoadGlide and a 2008 Wee-Strom but, I'm thinking if I could get one bike that does everything the two of them do.....So I'm here to learn about the Tenere.

Went to Yamaha in Hurst today, they have a black S10 on the showroom floor, and I knew more about the bike than the salesman! Shortly later, a nice young lady, Jeri. came over and she had the answers to almost all my questions and offered me a demo ride. Sooooo, I went for a ride!

Overall, I'm VERY impressed! It was very comfortable, the wind was manageable, the motor, even brand shiney new was very torquey, and the difference between T and S on the mode switch was amazing. The Tenere is now on my short list, 2 bikes! The other is a R1200Gs, a couple of years old to get the price more reasonable.

However, Jeri told me that you can disengage the ABS by putting the bike on it's center stand, starting it up and running it, she thinks, in second gear, for a while and the ABS will disengage because the front and rear wheel sensors are not sending compatible info???????? Anybody hear of this?

btw, here's a shot of my Wee

Nice Wee and welcome aboard..
Yes you can turn off the ABS by doing what you said. I really don't know why you would want to, but it can be done.

Welcome on, California from Texas. Nice looking bike in the pic. I like the red. I think you're on the right track with the Tenere. Better getter done. And I'll second the ABS turn off. I've never done it but have read in numerous magazines that this can be done as you describe. Try it before you do it. YOu might like the two levels of traction control. Anyway, let us know if you proceed, and again .... ::004:: . R ::022:: ::012::

Hi California,

Go and say a big thank you to Jen, we need to encourage people that actually do their homework.

She is right, That is one way to temporarily disable the ABS if you find yourself in a "steep decline situation in soft loamy stuff" to almost quote Jeremy from Altrider.
You can also pull sensors, take out fuses, cut wires, smash the ABS unit into little pieces if you are so inclined, but most of the time it works really well, unlike some other brands.

If you do it the way Jen mentions though it just turns back on next time you start the bike.

The S10 is like a good wine, it's get's better with age, so many people keep saying.

Cheers
Graham

Welcome aboard California from Texas! Something does not seem right with that statement, but at least you're on the right track with the SuperT!!!
