Not sure how you can beat 4 additional years of factory warranty with unlimited mileage for under $400.

I have no experience with McGraw warranty but have heard plenty of horror stories about trying to collect from aftermarket motorcycle warranties, be very careful what you buy !

give me a few more days, and I'll let you know if I still think the YES plan is worth it. I'm waiting on the word from Yamaha on my water pump leak. The dealer already ordered the parts, so they seem pretty confident that Yamaha will cover it.

like others, it's always been horror stories on aftermarket warranties that I've heard.

I've had good luck with the Kawasaki Good Times Protection Plan (Their version of YES) in the past where they always covered things.

if you are not the original owner, check out the YES plan for things not covered (Gaskets and seals for one).

I don't think it makes sense to buy an extended warranty from anyone but the manufacturer if you're going to buy one. Also the Y.E.S. warranty is pretty simple, not a ton of fine print and exceptions. How does the cost compare between factory and aftermarket warranties? Can't help thinking exclusions and hassles would outweigh any cost advantage. Keep in mind the cost of the Y.E.S. warranty can be had at a steep discount from places like D&H Yamaha.

So if the PO bought my bike 8/5/14, I'm out of luck for extended warranty, right? I won't do 3rd party stuff, but I was just wondering if I could still buy some YES coverage just in case.

Not only would I get the YES warranty, I would cease to deal with whomever suggested you go with an aftermarket warranty. They are huge money makers to the sales people, often difficult to deal with and not as widely accepted.

Extended warranties are really breakdown insurance, I believe Yamaha offers a YES policy for out of warranty bikes too. Not sure what it costs or what the coverages/restrictions are.

based upon your location the best warranty you can get will be buying FredZ some pizza and beer, dood is wicked smart and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

I went with the YES program on the new bike, but I had bought a Moto Guzzi Norge sometime ago. The MG was out of warranty so I bought a policy for one year from Zurich ins. the price was goo and no deductible. Price was good ( around $300.00). Within a year the instrument panel took a powder. A quick call and the $1100.00 panel along with install was covered, 100%. Along with the YES program I bought a policy for rim and tire replacement for the next five years, cost about $500.00.

It worked for me, Good Luck

$389 for 4 years from Yamaha if difficult to beat. I used YES on my 2012 and did not have much of a problem.
