Hi, chopped in my Multistrada 1200 for an S10 in November last year. Thought I had made a big mistake but first ride today since an ECU reflash has convinced me that I made the right decision.
Now looking forward to some warmer weather and lots of trouble free miles on the S10.
Cheers

Reflash done by Velox Racing for £ 150.00 + postage. All details on their website.
Excellent service and communications and makes a HUGE difference to both touring and sports modes. Money well spent.

TYKE - Re Flash is something I've been considering, in what way has it made such improvements, performance...economy :question

The improvements are well documented on this forum and other and are all true. The main reason I had it done was to remove the power restrictions in 1st - 3rd gears which I found very annoying and the reflash sorted this for me. The power delivery is now stronger and smoother through all the gears.
A bonus that I was wasn't really expecting was an increase in mpg - average reading was 46 when I took the bike out and this had increased to 51 after a 60 mile ride.
Get it done - thoroughly recommended ::012::

cheers

Thanks for the update, I've looked at the Velox site and the re flash seems pretty straightforward, providing I can get someone local to do it for me as I'm not confident with tackling that type of work.

Thanks again ::008::

There appears to be an issue with this ecu flash in that it disables the immobiliser. Do other flash methods have a similar problem?

Dave, I emailed Mike at Velox Racing with your concerns about the ecu flash disabling the immobiliser - this is his response:

"Well unless it was done by someone other than VeloxRacing, the images we use are EU images which have the immobilizer still, the US images used by some companies do not have immobilizer of course !"

So all is well and the immobiliser light still flashes ::008::

This is cut and pasted from their website

The Flash-Tune process will permanently remove the immobiliser from your ECU. The red light will continue to flash on your dash but the immobiliser will no longer function. The benefit of this is you can use cheap replacement keys and have them cut at a locksmith and not have to pay the Yamaha dealers £100's for a key to be coded to your bike, in any case most bikes these days are probably stolen by lifting them into a van before being broken down for spares.

One last thing, the immobilizer will need to be unplugged before running diagnostic mode otherwise it will show an immobilizer fault.

If you have an alarm fitted then this will not be affected by either the VeloxRacing Flash service or the Flash-Tune Interface cables.

Dave, further response from Mike

Hi Andrew, that only relates to bikes which we only have US images for. and has not been updated in about 2 years so the number of bikes is now signicantly less.

In fact I am not sure which page that text is on lol ?

SO bikes like the R1 07-08 we still bypass the immobilizer, but the 2012-2013 XT1200 we use EU images.

Mike
