Hi everyone,

I'm Rob and living in Surrey and after much deliberation I've ordered a white Worldcrosser and will take delivery on 1st March.

She will come with black panniers, twin spots and an Akrapovic fitted. My very nice dealer has thrown in a Meta alarm, heated grips and a bottle of bubbly to clinch the deal.

Now can't wait to collect and get some miles on the clock.

Great forum here, just what I was looking for, with all you like minded and knowledgeable people to help a fellow Super Tenere rider, ease into the groove.

Rob.

Welcome Rob. Yet another UK rider that has seen the light. I see that Yamaha are pushing the S10 here. They even forced my local dealer to take one in stock when he had been forced to sell the first one at near cost. They must be a disappointed with sales here. When I spoke to a rep, he seemed puzzled by the lack of success of the S10. I reckon they shot themselves in the foot with that bizarre and arrogant introduction where you could only order one off the internet without even seeing it let alone test riding it. At least they have now reduced the price. You'll love it. Have fun!

Welcome on, Rob from Surrey. And well done .... that's some pretty nice "throw in" stuff you negotiated. We'll be wanting to see some pics. March 1 isn't very far off. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Good choice ::008::

Ask your dealer to put some insulation on the LH bar before fitting the heated grips, there can be a huge difference in temperature as the throttle one is on a plastic tube and the LHS mounts direct to the metal handlebar which obviously saps heat.

I have just removed mine (luckily the dealer had not glued it on) and used some plumbers heat refelctive tape to insulate it, but be easier for them to do it whilst they are installing.

Southern meet in spring could be a good idea, seems to be a lot of new folk recently.

There is also a Super Tenere section on the UKGSER website, but it is not as comprehensive as this site.

A short hello from sunny Hastings. As the others have said, you won't regret the decision, roll on 1st March!

I like the idea of a southern meet up............

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

1st March is not too far away now and I'm already thinking about extras!

I've got a Zumo 660, anyone know which Touratech mount to go for, the h/bar clamp arrangement or the windscreen mount/adjuster which includes the 12mm bar?

Thanks Rasher, the tip of the heated grip insulation is an excellent idea and obvious when you think about it,.....so much to take in.

I’ll post some pictures when I get my hands on her.

And yes, Snakebasket, Simon and Rasher, a spring Southern meet would be a great idea.

HI Rob,

Welcome from Jefff in Hampshire, newbie myself. Had my 2nd hand worldcrosser ( matt grey ) just over a week now and this weekend was the first time I've been able to put it to the test. Wow, you won't be dissapointed.

I have the Yam heated grips and Rasher is right the left one doesn't get as hot (thought I was imagining it ) will have to try that mod.

Would be up for a South UK meet, anytime.

Hi magrunch,

my bike is in the dealers, all there and ready to roll, but I'm waiting for the 1st March so she'll be a "13" plate, guess it'll help should I ever sell her.

Met Nick Sanders at the Excel show last Friday, bought some of his books and told him I'm interested in his East to West to East USA tour next year (both 2013 tours now fully booked) so I'll have a year to get the know the bike and my limitations!

Let me actually get mine and we'll have to arrange a meet somewhere.

I've got the windscreen mount adjuster with a ZUMO 550 mounted on it. The windscreen adjuster is a great accessory in itself plus it mounts the SATNAV higher up and nearer to your line of sight which I think is important. It is so convenient I can't remember the last time I used the speedo (which is 8% fast anyway) to check my speed.

You know, I've noticed that on several bikes but I had never figured the cause. Obvious really - to a sensible person! What does that make me? DOH!
