Hi folks, signed in a while back and been watching the site for info on the S10. Local dealer never has a demo bike so very tough to form an opinion. Living on a relatively small island cant even sit on one so off to London show next Friday to get a feel of one. I think my dealer only ever sold 3 and I only ever saw one on the road once and one in a BMW dealer (should of bought it). Have posted a few times already but not much to say. Have owned a XTZ750 some years back, hope that counts.

Welcome, dogs! Interesting place you live in. I've actually heard of it but had to visit Wikipedia to learn about it. The climate looks like nothing I've seen before. Pretty much cool and wet year round? How do you get to/from England or the continent? Looks like a long ferry ride so I assume you fly?

Anyway, back to motorcycles. I bet the majority of the owners here, at least in the USA (including me), never had a test ride before buying the bike. But honestly, given the abysmal resale value, I highly encourage you to find a way to ride one and make sure it's what you're looking for before pulling the trigger, at least on a new one. Buying used it's definitely a buyer's market and not much risk in going that route. You could most likely get most of your investment back if it doesn't suit you.

Good luck!

Lots of Demo S10's in the UK, maybe worth visiting for a weekend and lining up a demo.

Assuming you can take them back without huge costs there are also some good deals on leftover models and ex demo's.

Small island, maybe you know the "Machon's". I ride with one here in Oregon that has at least one brother still riding the hell out his bikes around the island....Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. As I've mentioned I'm off to the London show next Friday so will get to at least try one for size. And yes to the question I do know Machon's here in the Channel Islands let alone Guernsey. Ive been doing a lot of investigating on the net, hence my reason for hooking up with you guys, and found there's a heap of advice out there and some cracking YouTube vids too. I bought the Nick Sanders vid some time back and was well impressed, but was put off by the lack of enthusiasm and commitment from my local dealer and still am, hence my reason for looking to the UK for a bike and have found one or two through Autotrader. From what I've read the only difference between a 14 or 15 bike is colour changes. And to be honest I've got a bike or two to shift before I can get excited.

Welcome to the forum. How do you cope with the low speed limit (40mph if memory serves me right) that most roads seem to have on the island? Still it's a lovely place to live. I had a weeks holiday there a few years back. You have some very interesting WW2 stuff there. ::004::
