Hi all from Seattle, first post here. I picked up my new Super Tenere this last weekend. I traded in my trusty Triumph Tiger 1050 and my Suzuki DR650 on the new beast. It only took about 1 minute of my first test ride for me to fall in love with this bike. I couldn't get back fast enough to sign the paperwork and write the check. It's the blue color which I really like, although both my Tiger 1050 and my R1100GS have been white (my fav color). I'm at 68 miles so far, with many more to come. Unfortunately we are still getting a little snow in the Seattle area, so I haven't been able to ride to work this week

I've got a few things ordered for it and am planning the upgrade process carefully. I was really concerned about the weight of the bike while reading road tests, but after a few inutes in the saddle it feels like a much smaller bike. Very easy to toss around and the CG seem really low. The ST website is great and I look forward to meeting some of the local guys eventually.

Ahh, another Tiger 1050 convert. Are you missing the triple yet?

Congrats and welcome!

The Triumph was a great bike, but the "chain snatch" issue kind of drove me nuts. I did a few things to alleviate the problem, but it really never went away for me. The engine was amazing though. I may get a Speed Triple in the future, as that was my first ride on a modern Triumph. I'm sold on the Yamaha, I can't stop telling people about it. I've got pictures of it everywhere! (home, office, computers, iphone, taped to my walls, etc.) I had the side cover off last night checking out the workmanship and design. It was impressive. I like the way they set all the electronics and wiring up, very clean.

Yes, the chain on the Tiger is a real pisser. If not adjusted correctly you get vibrations and bad shifting. One of the things I will NOT miss.

Thanks for the wonderful welcome scr and all the rest! Anyone have Battery issues with their brand new bike? I'm having starting issues which seem to be related to a dead or dying battery. I've never experienced this on a new vehicle before. The dealer assures me he will take care of it, but I can't get out to his shop until the weekend. About half the time I try and start it, the bike just clicks one of the relays and the check engine light comes on. I know it's not one of the interlock switches (sidestand, clutch lever, neutral switch) as they give a different type of non-start indication. I've had it on my Yuasa charger, and it indicates the battery is fully charged, but still fails to start 50% of the time. I've checked all the connections and the bike was assembled extremely well. I guess it could just be (bad) luck of the draw.

Congrats on the new S10 - I was looking hard at the Triumph 1050, but ultimately think I made the right choice :)

You definitely made the right choice. 8) Expecially if you want to load the bike then go anywhere on rough surfaces. Tiggers like to break the top shock mount in those situations.
