It's obvious to me that is the enhanced tip-over force field loop.

It enhances the OEM crash protection that it surrounds.

Right - SAE connector. I put one on all of my bikes for a battery tender and to run an electric pump. On the Tenere, mine is mounted with velcro in the left fairing, aft of the voltage regulator and it normally has a USB converter plugged in for the phone charging cable.

Some shops install the pigtail to maintain bikes on the showroom floor. Hit the local Triumph dealership the right day of the week and there's a pretty slick Tender on the floor with a whole bunch of leads scattered across the floor tending a bunch of bikes.

Don't need a tender if you ride it all the time. ;) Of course I'm one of those smartass people that live in Texas with year round riding. ::012::

Agreed. It looks like a SAE pigtail connector. I installed one like that to keep my battery charged during the winter. When it's summer I tuck it away and have a number of accessories you can get to use it with. Handy!

Yep. Battery tender cable. I have one on my bike that comes out just in front of the seat. I also have an adapter to use it as a USB port. The original owner installed it to run a tire pump. He blew the fuse on the cigarette lighter (only a 3 amp fuse) so installed the Battery Tender.
