Just picked up a brand new 2014 Tenere today. My last bike was a V-strom 650. I of course got the fastest color: blue! Only have about 100 miles on it, but here are my first impressions. The S10 is a little heavier pushing around, but feels almost as light as the strom once moving. The handling is light and agile, better than the strom in many ways. The engine is awesome, very tractor like, but smooth and revs quickly. The chassis is very rock solid and I found myself going a lot faster because of the smooth acceleration and stable ride. The brakes are light and super strong. They haul the bike down very fast with one finger, with little dive too. The cruise is perfect, just like a car, that really allows a lighter hand and a rest period. The experience is soooo nice and slow feeling because of how planted it is, I can see myself riding long distance on the S10. The V is not fun over 65, the revs are high and it is not that composed, throw on a passenger and not a fun experience for me. It will do it, but not like I expect the S10. Going from a 650 to the S10 motor, there is a little more heat. Not terrible, but in traffic the 650 was not noticeable, but the S10 is warmer (which will be great in the winter). The weather protection is fantastic too, but that adds to the warmth on the legs! Again, not terrible, but I felt the need to mention it.

The V and the S10 are not in the same league, but for anyone upgrading, it is a little like going from a camry to an Audi S6. The level of everything is just way better, as is the price. With the year end deals going on, I got the bike for $11.500 and of course add the outrageous Illinois taxes (yes that is a sucking sound you hear). It will take me a while to bond, as it is a very different ride than the strom.

I wanted to thank all of the riders on this forum. ::008:: You all helped me make the decision to buy the S10, and several posters talked about the 2014 and how it felt a little better. I had a chance to buy a new 2013 for 1600 less, but chose the 14 from comments here. So, thanks everyone! I look forward to some rides one day!

Welcome from California.
I've had mine for 4 months and cause of work I only have 3000 miles on it. Lucky for me I don't have to drive it to work so it's all fun miles. :D
As they say on this forum it get's smoother as you get more miles on it. Or maybe I get smoother on the bike.
I ride with Harley's, BMW's, and Duc's. So many people have walked past those and asked me about my bike. Pisses them off but I don't care what I ride as long as I'm happy with it. ::025::
Enjoy the ride.... ::004::

Welcome, and congrats ::008::
Seems to be a natural transition from V Stroms to the S10, with so many that have come that way. S10 is a nice bike, and you summed it up nicely as a tractor, not as smooth as the Wee but very competent. I did go up one tooth at the front for the Wee, that helped the highway riding a lot.

my '14 base model is nearly 2 months old now with something like 6,500 miles on it. I've owned alot of bikes but never one as flexible or dead-stable as this one. Its been a while since I had a weestrom but from what I recall there really is no comparison. The wee used a repurposed engine, a nice one but not really a ADV-bike engine. The S10 was purpose built from the ground up and it shows, everthing is there for a reason, everthing works towards the whole. Team blue also does a good job of refining things, the cruise on the gen 2 bikes is wonderful and I'm sure the gen 3 bikes whenever they come out will have useful updates as well. Like the FJR I hope they keep this one in production for a good long time as I hope to have one for many years to come. 'Enjoy the new bike, 'pretty hard not to really.....

I didn't even like blue....until I got my blue Tenere.
It's by far the best bike I've ever owned.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

::013::Hi Everyone, new from NJ to the forum, Changed my FZ1 to S 10 this year, love the bike. Looking forward to see everyone on the roads. Use my ::022:: to commute to work and hit some dirt roads on weekends. Problem is that I can't get enough of the bike. If I could I would use it for everything.

Congrats on the new bike!! I just picked up my 15 a few weeks ago and love it already. Only thing you did wrong was get the blue one. They're not as fast nor do they handle as well as the red ones. ;D
