Since picking up my Tenere, I've put over 600 miles on it. I have to say, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase!
I owned an Aprilia Caponord for 6 years and 22K miles. I absolutely loved that bike, with its Italian flaws and all. I spent many hours in the garage, preemptively fixing the known flaws, and it never let me down. I looked forward to every chance I had to ride it (even with 5 other bikes in the garage during those 6 years).
I sold it because even with a Sargent seat built to my specs, my tailbone would always ache after riding it more than 3 hours straight. I played with handlebar angle, bought an Airhawk seat pad, saw a spine specialist, and could never resolve the pain. I replaced the Capo with a Concours 14 thinking the forward lean would eliminate the pain, but the C14 just didn't do anything for me. As insanely fast as it was, I was bored on it. And, my tailbone would still ache after a long ride.
In the Tenere, I think I found a good replacement for my beloved Capo. I did a 230 mile ride a week ago and had no tailbone pain when I got off the bike (stock seat with the bumper mod). I love looking at the Tenere, and anytime I ride it, I feel completely engaged in the experience. I have a feeling I'm going to own this one for a long time.
I had a chance to take a lunchtime ride yesterday on possibly the last really nice day of 2016 in Chicago. But, I'll keep riding it until there is snow on the road!
