Hi my name is Jake and I've been a two wheel addict for many years. From V-rod's and Roadliners to R1's. Always had an eye on the Super Tenere, but never pulled the trigger till now. Picked up a nice used 2013 with plenty of goodies. Still learning about everything...quarks etc..

Overall, the bike is a blast and easily one of my favorites already. I ride MX pretty often (2012 Yz450f) and look forward to some off-road adventures on this beast. On a side note, I will at some point (once I have some 50/50 tires back on) take this monster for a lap around a local MX track or two. I can already imagine the looks I’d get….

The bike came with some pretty warn out K60's, but the original owner had the stock Bridgestone's (with almost no miles). So I've tossed them on till I decide what 50/50 tire I want to run.

So yeah that’s pretty much it. Already found some great info on the site and look forward to learning much more.

Adds

Touratech pegs / gps mount / headlight guard
Yamaha Panniers
Two Brothers Carbon pipe (till it breaks or falls apart...lol )
ABS switch mod
Aftermarket smoked windscreen (not sure of the make)
Pyramid side cover
K&N filter

Welcome aboard from another 'Zonie! Check out the regional forum; I cross posted a ride for this Sunday (the 14th) you're more than welcome to join us for. I currently run the K60s on my bike (I'm on my 2nd rear to my first front), but may look at the Mitas tires next time around.

Hi Jake - ::004:: from Iowa. The K60's or Mitas' would be a good 50/50 tire choice. The K60's been vetted by a lot of folks, with the recent introduction of the Mitas onto the scene it's still relatively young. Initial reports look pretty good though ::008::

Does anyone else get the impression other motorist think your law enforcement? Multiple times speeders have slowed down and moved over. Only to realize I’m not a cop, then speed back up. It’s either that or the just want to see our cool bikes.

Either way at least they are seeing us right.

Congratulations on finding such a nicely equipped bike. That will save you so much in the long run. I love the dirt as well because I like to explore and I don't reach out for too many big challenges anymore. So I'll keep exploring the easy stuff.

My 2013 is matte black/grey. I've outfitted it with all black aftermarket items (luggage, crash bars, etc.) and my buddy suggests it look like some kind of special forces bike. Not sure where that might apply but it does kind have a unique look I suppose.
