New Site Functionality - Product Reviews

Hey guys, need some quick input to make sure I'm not wasting my time.

I just started design this afternoon for a "Product Reviews" section of the site. As usual I'm planning on overdoing it, but hey, this is fun for me.

I just want to see if folks are actually interested in such a functionality. Hopefully we all know what product reviews are all about, and this new section would be a spot where we can tuck everybody's opinions about S10 mods, as well as other more generic stuff like gear/clothing and whatever else.

What do you guys think?

That sounds great. It would be nice to go to one spot and see what others are saying about a certain product. I hope people can stay on track in the threads so they don't get super long

Great idea Chris!!! There we can have threads for reviews/opinions on everything from oil to tires to panniers to helmets to gloves to bash plates to crash bars to jackets to communication equipment to ............... (the list will be endless!!!!!)

I have something just a bit more structured in mind than just a new board that would incorporate real quantifiable data like ratings, as well as stratification of the reviews by dimensional data.

Like I said, I always overthink this stuff. I'll keep working on it, I think it'll be a hit.

This is a great idea and will help everyone out.

The only negative I can dream of (other than the hard work of setting this up!), is if the site ever needs to go with advertising/banners for support and a advertiser may get upset about a bad review. Just thinking about every eventuality.

I'm not really worried about that. I'm a free market kind of guy, and any vendor/manufacturer of products would want to know if their products are good or bad as well, since ultimately their viability depends on a quality product (all things equal). Those who don't like a bad review will just have to live with it, and if they have real issues I doubt I'd want their business anyway.

I agree. I wouldn't want advertising to influence an honest review. We have all read stories of that being the case with some moto mags and we sure don't want that here.
