I have two data points on the Scorpion modular helmet.

Data point 1 - The love of my life was wearing one when she went down in a high speed crash on Monarch Pass two years ago. The helmet held together and she had no head injuries. For that, I am eternally grateful.

Data point 2 - About two months after her crash, the latching system on my scorpion failed. Luckily, it was not an accident; it just decided to quit latching. I am also very grateful that the latch did not fail when I needed it to work...

With those data points collected, we are not buying or wearing any more Scorpion helmets.

Have to make sure it's clean and lubed, mine stopped latching well after an especially dusty week in Colorado. Cleaned it up, a little oil, and better than new!

How does it compare with the Shoei NeoTech? The Neo fits me really well and isn't nose-heavy, so I'm looking at it for my next hat.

Related note - I tried a very similar Bilt Explorer helmet and in addition to being heavy the balance was horrible.

just a reminder , helmets should not be worn (used ) after a crash or a drop .... all experts and helmet manufactures agree on this ... after a high speed crash that protected your love of your life the helmet should not have been used again in any case... that a helmet latch might have not worked after the crash at some point is not remarkable .... send the helmet back to scorpion , let them determine if the helmet is safe to use and or need repair via warranty.... when I have talked to scorpion reps they seemed very eager to help with issues... I like my new scorpion adv helmet just fine... but, I'm normally an XL fit in everything but had to order XXL in this helmet.... I would buy this helmet again...

Trust me. There was no question as to whether her helmet could or should be used again. It went into the trash when we got home from recovering her bike.

As I indicated in my post, it was my helmet that had a failed latch a short time later.

Glad you like the helmet and would buy it again. That is the beauty of the choices we have. We get to chose how much, what type and what brand of protective gear we wear.

I have had the helmet for a little over three months. One thing I like is the clear visor gives me a bigger field of vision that my other full face helmet. I was afraid the detachable visor might be bad in the wind. Around here in Colorado it doesn't seem to be a problem. I did take it off when riding in Wyoming as the wind there is always savage. It worked well but the wind still knocks you around a bit. I got the orange and I believe it does help to be seen by cagers. It is quiet but I do wear custom ear plugs. Overall, I am pleased with the new bucket.
