Well I just pulled the trigger on a leftover 2012 demo bike...with 530 miles on it...Dealer is doing the 600 mile service and I will pick it up tomorrow....Test rode it and really like it....Even got to test the abs when leader stopped short on a sweeping 30 mile hour corner....Gonna take it on a 1000 mile trip over the weekend.... Question as I have no hard luggage was gonna throw my wolfman duffel on the back,, will the heat shield on the muffler protect it from burning....Thanks in advance

Congrats on your purchase. I mount a large duffle over the seat and have never had an issue with heat. Obviously you would not want hang saddlebags over the bike without a rack. Here's my setup....everything tent related goes in the orange duffle and no problems with heat. Makes for a decent backrest when I'm tired or just want to shift positions on a long ride.

Here is a pic of mine before I got my side cases. I was using a large SeaLine dry bag. No issues with it.

Hey welcome aboard ::004:: I recently mounted Wolfman Expedition side bags with the racks and have no probs with heat either. I have cruised several hundred in hot weather and all is well. I even cut my heat shield back.
