Yamaha has a factory tall shield and there are a number of aftermarket alternatives. Note that the 2013 and older models won't fit.

I have the tall OEM shield on my '14 and I absolutely love it. In the high position it puts the air over my helmet (good when cold out). In the low position, it puts air into my helmet vents when it's really hot. I will say it's better when raining to leave it in a place where it keeps rain from hitting you below the helmet but keeps air on the visor otherwise visibility becomes a problem.

Greetings from Malta and welcome to the forum.

The OEM tall windscreen plus the side wind deflectors were not good enough for me when riding on the motorway. I added the MRA touring extension and the Madstad bracket and this combination made all the difference.

Personally I never have much luck with after-market screens. Maybe it's just me, but they always seem to just transfer the tubulence somewhere else, so I end up with a collection of old plastic after a few years. I always use disposible -36dB earplugs for hearing protection incidentally & I don't expect to be in some sort of Gold Wing like 'bubble' of near silence on the S10 - it's not that kind of bike.

I am 6.00ft & find the standard screen on it's highest setting just fine, when combined with the Yamaha clear plastic winglets. Without these in place there seems to be a turbulant air current driving upwards towards the riders chest, that upsets the flow around the screen.

So my advice is to fit the winglets (Yam, Calsci or whatever) first & see how it goes - then consider something taller/wider, or a top edge flip device, if you need it.

I'm in NW VT. New owner of a 2016 ES. Did lots of research on lots of different bikes. Checked out several forums as I've found it's the best place to get real data (with some filtering of course). I thought I wanted an FJR to replace my FZ1 but it didn't strike a chord for some reason. I wanted a sport tourer that was good on dirt/gravel/fire roads. Finally got to demo an ST last year and liked it. Went thru a surgery and rehab this winter. It was a looong wait to get on a bike again. Ordered it late feb, picked it up last sat. I like this bike more and more as I ride it. A great forum made the decision easier too!
