Hi all,

I picked up my brand new Super Tenere 7/11/13. I was directed here by a few friends from the MSTA.

About me...webmaster for the MSTA as well as an Executive committee member (not nearly as prestegious as it may sound ;))

My last ride was a Kawasaki Versys, so the s10 is the logical next step. I liked the Versys well enough, but more or less got bored with it.

Sooo...what are the must have farkles? So far I have a Givi quick lock tank bag and the Yamaha Top Box. The bike will be ridden on the road 95% of the time, ridden 2 up 80% of the time, and any offroad riding will be unimproved (gravel) roads.

I'm looking forward to becoming part of the S10 community. Looks like there is a ton of info here to sift through.

Wanna go ride? Hit me up.

welcome and congratulations on the new bike! I suffer the same as most new bike owners and have a load of things changed out on my bike. I ride in the area SE of Mansfield most of the time, if you ever want to meet and check out my bike just send me a message.
What is MSTA?

Welcome, Jay. I plan on riding to Brick's event in NC on the 26 & 27th. You gonna be there? I can show you lots of farkles.
Unfortunately I can't make it to the Big Lynn event. My next MSTA event will be MPFB. What is the URL of the YouTube videos that you had posted of the Super Tenere?

The MSTA is the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association: RideMSTA.com, there are several members of this forum who are also members of the MSTA. We have a pocket of members in the Akron and Columbus area. Do you ever get to Hocking Hills?

Greetings, Jay! Welcome to the Super Ten world! ::022::

There's a lot of ideas about farkles and mods in this thread: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1851.0;topicseen

It's less than 400 pages, so no problem. ::025:: Of course, there are lots of threads about particular topics. I am a big fan of my WaspWorks windscreen adjuster and several of the AltRider parts, among other things.

IL, the land of straight, flat, boring roads
You asked about youtube videos that I uploaded. I have two that we posted to www.Niehauscycle.com a couple of years ago. The USA bikes didn't arrive until the end of July, 2011, but Yamaha had a few Euro models dressed like the USA bikes that made the rounds to some dealers for display and we had one in January, 2011. I have one video just talking about the features of the bike here 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere.

Another is about how to lower remove the rear seat and lower the rear rack in case you were riding solo and wanted a nice flat platform to tie down luggage, etc. It is here:

2012 Yamaha Tenere Luggage Rack Conversion

Congrats on the new wheels and welcome to the forum!mlike Btryan, I added a WaspWorks screen bracket to adjust both height and angle of the windscreen. I went with Yamaha luggage and heated grips. An Eastern Beaver fuse block allows me to have both switched and unswitched power feeds for the GPS, CB radio, etc. I have upgraded the suspension with a Penske shock and Ohlins for internals, it does make a big difference. That's it, so far.

Thanks. I see you also have a tiger 1050. How is that compared to the Tenere? The tiger 1050 was on my shortlist.

I don't normally go that far south on day trips. Made about 1 or 2 per year and in fact going south next Thursday with 4 other bikes

Howdy Jay. STAR13 was a hoot!
While I was there for portions of it, I had to work that week and missed out on the riding part of it. I still had a good time, seems to be the most successful STAR to date. Cant wait 'til 2014!
