Good afternoon everybody! Let me introduce myself… My name is Danny, 24 years old, and I'm the proud new owner of a 2010 Super Ténéré. It's actually my first bike. Was initially looking for a Honda Varadero, but quickly fell in love with this beast! Yamaha is a known brand to me, I used to own a 1980s Yamaha FS1. Since it never failed me (although being over 40 years old), I've chosen to trust Yamaha once more and finally decided upon the Super Ténéré! I live on an island in the northern part of the Netherlands (Terschelling). I'm mostly looking forward to next years' summer to take this beast out for a long holiday through Europe. Any advice regarding maintenance or known issues is more than welcome! Hope to speak to all of you soon! - Danny

Welcome dannyr. Gen 1 has 2 wring recalls and the cam chain tensioner (cct) is a known problem. If you hear a rattle from the right side at cold start. It’s the cct. It will get progressively worse. No big deal to change. But it can lead to catastrophic engine failure.
