Hi All, Nice forum here so I decided to join. been very interested in this bike ever since I read that it was coming here. Had a '10 R1200GS which I just sold for a Road King (big regrets there) and am looking to get back into the adventure bike world. Cruisers are not for me. The RK is comfy but does not handle and is too heavy pushing it around in the garage where I have other junk to move around. Selling it for the S10.
Took a test ride last Sat. and man, I was impressed. The only negatives which can be easily remedied are the side stand tab which is too close to the foot peg (so I just accessed it from behind the foot peg).
Another was the seat dipping towards the tank. I had the seat in the low position. Everything else was great. No buffeting (unlike my GS with its stock shield), good power like my GS, (tested in S mode, TC in 2). Good ergos both seated and standing (rubber inserts and wider stock pegs so much better than stock GS pegs).
I'm only 5'7" and could easily balance the bike on one leg or on the balls of my feet if I wanted to. Its feels lighter than my GS even picking it up from its side stand position which I did a few times. Forgot to see how it was with the center stand. On the GS, it was very easy. Hope its the same on this bike. Had a Goldwing previously and that was a pig to put up on its centerstand.
I rode in stop and go traffic, (excellent brakes) did some turns in an empty parking lot and went on the highway to test the buffeting which really bothered me on the GS. I did not feel any vibrations at all while cruising at highway speeds.
The Super Tenere is a fantastic bike that I will be getting as soon as I get rid of the RK. In the meantime I enjoy reading all your posts here about this bike.
