Hello all, I just purchased a 2012 Super Tenere. 18.5k miles on it with a lot of extra goodies (AltRider smash plate, AltRider rear rack, OEM panniers, Zumo 660 GPS, headlight protectors, and I think an aftermarket windshield.) I picked it up for the asking price of $5,995 with all that at a dealership. I'm coming of a 2016 KLR 650 that I owned for almost 14k miles.
Usually after buying a motorcycle, I have buyers remorse and I think I can honestly say that I don't have any when it comes to the Super Tenere. I have had a bad experience with Yamaha's in the past, but decided that this bike is exactly what I am looking for and decided to give it a shot. Hoping to do more off-road riding now that I can actually cruise comfortable on the highway rather than sitting at 5.5k RPM's at 85 miles an hour and being sick of it after an hour or two.
The question I had was regarding MPG. I keep seeing everywhere that people are getting MPG in the mid to upper 40's or more. When I went through a full-ish tank (refueled when I hit E,) I calculated I got 35 MPG. The bike has pretty knobby tires, I'm guessing 50/50's, so I'm not sure if that's a factor. Down the road, I am planning on getting a Power Commander as well as midpipes and slip-ons. In the meantime, I was wondering if there was anything I could do (besides being very conservative with the throttle) that can help me squeeze a few more miles out of the tank.
