Hello All!

My name is Lee and I live in Las Cruces, NM. I have been riding motorcycles ever since I was 7 years old, so that makes 40 years now. Let me explain my member name. I currently have a 2009 Gen 2 Yamaha Vmax which I love! I am also a new owner of a 2014 Super Tenere ES. So I combined the 2 to Gen2S10. I am anxiously awaiting delivery of my Super 10 ES. Any day now

The Vmax is hardly a 2-up bike and having sold my 2006 FJR1300A last spring my wife and I were in the market for a replacement. There was a lot of deliberation to come to the point of getting the Tenere as there were 3 bikes in the running. BMW K1600GTL, Yamaha FJR1300ES, and S10ES. My wife would be the ultimate determining factor as she recently had knee surgery. The new bike had to fit her legs (34 inseam) from the passenger seat to the pegs.
The K1600GTL although a truly sexy, comfortable and long distance machine was just plain too expensive. On top of that maintenance/parts are just as expensive.
The duel came to the 2 Yamahas.
Having had an FJR before we knew already what the riding position and abilities of the bike were. The seat-to-peg distance and leg angle were not conducive to her comfort, but the bike did not need to have bags added after purchase.
The local Yamaha dealer finally received a 2014 Tenere but standard model. We went to test-sit and were impressed. Not only was the seat-to-peg distance great for her, but so was the distance between rider and passenger. Choice made.

I had test-ridden a 2012 (in 2012) when we were living in Germany. I was impressed with the torque and the smooth engine. I was not allowed to take the 2014 for a test ride, so this purchase is somewhat sight-unseen. However, from what I have read regarding the improvements made to the engine and the Electronic Suspension I do not think that I am going to be disapointed.

I picked up the Yamaha Saddlebags, and Engine Guards, as well as the PIAA Driving Lights. I can't wait to get this bike get these items mounted and put some miles on. ::001::

Thanks for having me!

Howdy. Not a Tenere owner yet, but deep in deliberation. Greetings from southern New England (southwest CT).

Currently an F800GS rider. But may not be for long.

Superbly helpful community. Only one question. What the hell is with all the ::001,2,3,4:: stuff? Even tried to Google it and couldn't figure it out!

Thanks in advance for all the positivity and helpfulness. Even to a BMW guy!
